Chapter 32
Best friend
-----
I let out a heavy sigh before getting out of my car. Another day at the university, where Joseph will make me feel uncomfortable with his actions and words. Where Alena will make me feel uncomfortable with her glares. Where Ava will make me feel uncomfortable with her annoying presence.
I was wearing a simple knitted puffed-short-sleeved cropped top that matched with its black knitted mini skirt. I put my hair in a messy bun while my neck was wearing a simple pearl necklace. My ears were wearing pearl earrings, too, while my feet were covered with my black ankle-strap pump heels. I was wearing light makeup, but it seemed to be heavy because of the eyeliner I was wearing. My eyes were wearing nude lipstick, so, I felt superior with my looks and outfit for the day.
A small smile appeared on my lips when I saw Lila, waiting for me. She waved her hand at me when she saw me coming. I waved my fingers at her before we went to our classroom together. Her mother had a funeral two days ago. Of course, she's still not fine about it, but she managed to handle herself these past few days because she already cried out her whimpers. She said she needs to attend her classes or her grades will fail which can make her stop doing ballet.
Lila and I had different courses, but we were classmates with two majors and few minors. Ang kapareha ko ay sina Joseph at Ava. I don't have any idea why Joseph took business when he wants to be a professional pianist, but Lila only told me that Joseph wants to try other things which as working under the company of the Tiago's. The Tiago's had a music school. It was handled by Tito Johnny. Lila told me that Joseph wanted to study business since he wants to run the school in the future.
Tita Jennaflor wasn't working under the school because it was located in the Philippines. Kahit na halos lahat ng mga Tiago ay sa Los Angeles na nakatira, roon pa rin sa Pilipinas nakatayo ang eskuwalahan na 'yon. One more thing, I also heard from Lila that Joseph wanted to teach kids how to play piano, but suddenly changed his mind. Gusto na niyang maging businessman.
Joseph, Ava, and I had the same schedules.
Lunch came and Lila made me go to the cafeteria first since her professor was overtime. I went to the cafeteria alone, carrying my handbag. I bought two meals for me and Lila before I went to an available table. I put the trays down on the table as I sat down. I took out my phone from my handbag to check if there's any message from Steve. When I saw nothing, I put my phone down on the table before taking the plates of my food from the tray and put them on the table, too, so, I could start eating.
I wiped the utensils of my feel using the tissues from the tray before digging them in my food. Lila said that she'll try to come sooner, but I'm already hungry. I ordered a shrimp-tossed salad for me, and a chicken salad for Lila. I only bought two bottled water for us since having flavored drinks will make our weight higher.
I was chewing my salad when my phone beeped. I saw Steve's name on it, so, I smiled before picking my phone from the table. I was about to read his messages when someone snatched my phone from me which made my eyes widened. My lips parted when I saw Joseph trying to sit beside me as he hid my phone in his pockets. He felt my eyes on him which made him looked at me.
"Finish your food and I'll give your phone back," he said before he started eating his food, not minding my glares at him.
"Give my phone back," I demanded as I opened my palm over him.
