summary: Daniel takes care of you when you're sick.

Golden sunlight poured through the windows of Y/n's room. It seeped through her translucent drapes and cast a bright glow to the space. She awoke in the late hours of the morning, completely unaware of the plans she made with Daniel until the familiar sound of the front door opening rang in her ears. Y/n groaned tiredly and pressed her pillows to her face strongly in an attempt to soothe the dull ache in her head. She tiredly lifted herself up, pushing her blankets back and tossing her legs to the edge of the bed. Daniel stepped into the house casually, closing the door behind him.

"Y/n." He called out sweetly. When he was only met with the distant chirping of birds, he tried again. "Y/n, you awake baby?" Daniel kicked off his sneakers and padded across the hallway. A sharp knock was heard on the opposite side and Y/n sauntered over to her door as she rubbed sleep from her red eyes.

"Hey, Y/n..." Daniel said slowly as she shifted to the side for him. Y/n fluttered around her room as she got ready. He walked further into the room and grasped her wrist gently. "No hello or good morning?" He teased with a chuckle, taking in her drowsy, tired figure. His face twisted in concern, "you look pale...". Daniel rested his palm gently upon her forehead to feel her temperature. "You feel warm. Maybe you should lay down?" He suggested, guiding her to the foot of the bed.

"No, no." Y/n stumbled out in a raspy voice. "I'll be ready in a sec." She said, pulling a tight reassuring smile. Daniel merely sighed, taking a seat at her desk and he casually pulled out his phone. Moments later, Daniel strained his ears to the faint sound of Y/n being sick in the bathroom and nearly tripped over his own feet trying to get to her as fast as he could. He slid the mirrored door swiftly and hurried beside her with bated breath. Y/n was kneeled down behind the toilet, and she shot Daniel a quick, embarrassed glance. She leaned over to flush the toilet, only to slump back over again.

"Aww, baby" Daniel uttered sadly as he rubbed her back softly.

Y/n leaned back lazily and lolled her head against the cold, tiled wall. "You don't have to see this." She muttered in discomfort. She glared to the side, meeting Daniel's eyes with a faint smile.

"Don't be silly." He scolded light-heartedly. Daniel lightly pushed Y/n's fine hair back from her face and held it in a ponytail.

Eww, this is so gross." Y/n grumbled tiredly, wiping her lips with the back of her hand.

"It's fine, baby." Daniel replied. He slowly got up, turning to the cabinet beneath the sink. He pulled out a towel and ran a corner of it under cold water. "Here, sit still" He sat down beside her again and wiped her lips gently with the cool cloth.

"Thanks." She murmured, gulping down her tears, but Daniel could tell. He placed his forefinger under her chin and gently guided her eyes to meet his. Y/n faltered under his concerned gaze and let out a strained sigh. She felt hot tears trickle down her pale face and bowed her head in embarrassment.

"Hey, it's okay. You'll get better soon, I promise." Daniel brushed his thumb across her cheeks benevolently and placed a small kiss on the top of her head. Y/n let her stricken face and tense body ease under his loving touch. "Let's get you into bed." He said sweetly. Daniel lifted her onto her feet and wrapped her arm around his shoulders as she stumbled limply to the bed.

Daniel helped her in and tucked the blankets around her body and right up under her chin "I'll be right here, okay?" Daniel reminded gently. He caressed Y/n's arms as she relaxed.

A few hours later, Y/n drifted out of her sleep again. The blue sky was dotted with fluffy white clouds and the serenity of the morning had trailed into the daily afternoon bustle and traffic. A cool breeze drifted lazily into Y/n's room, whistling in and out quietly through the slightly agape windows that Daniel had opened. He emerged from the kitchen, letting the corners of his lips tug upwards into a genuine grin as he saw Y/n stretching haphazardly under the sheets. "I made you soup." He admitted shyly with a giggle. He placed the steaming bowl on her bedside table and shuffled over to her side of the bed. "There you go." He said gently as she settled upon her bed. The pillows behind her were shifted comfortably and her blankets were resting just under her waist.

"Do you feel like eating right now?" He asked gently, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear. She nodded weakly and took the bowl from him with a smile.

"Thanks." She took a small sip, immediately wincing as the scorching hot soup blistered her tongue. She chuckled gently, "it's a little hot." She said timidly, offering the soup back to him.

"That's okay." Daniel giggled, placing the bowl back on the table beside him. Y/n took a shaky deep breath and rested back against her headboard. Daniel slipped into the bed beside her. He rearranged the pillows behind them and sat himself up, resting her head on his shoulder gently.

"Can you tell me a story?" Y/n asked as she snaked her arms around his waist. She looked up at Daniel again.

"What about a song?" He suggested, running his fingers through her hair soothingly.

"No." Y/n said simply, earning a small chuckle from Daniel.

"Okay." He responded quietly. "Once upon a time, there was this aspiring, young artist," He started, glancing back at Y/n, her fatigued eyes already fighting sleep. Y/n's face broke into a smile as she listened to Daniel and let herself be soothed by the loving tone in his voice.

"Love you." She mumbled quietly. Daniel chuckled gently and let his eyes linger on her sleepy, cute figure pressed up beside him cosily. He looked at her with uttermost love and replied gently. "I love you."
