summary: daniel's sick but some flowers made him feel a little better

it was just the right thing to lighten his mood, to smear a genuine smile on his chapped lips, and kindle some light in his sore eyes as he trudged out of his bedroom, half asleep with only the mission of warming up a bowl of your homemade soup on his foggy mind.

it was a first; padding across the cold floorboards and catching sight of a vibrant bouquet of flowers on the kitchen island. the colours greatly contrasted the wintry dimness of his home and lack of vibrancy dancing in the air that came with your usually cheery presence. but it was the best surprise of his dreary week, and daniel felt like his heart could literally melt at your comforting message of well wishes hand written on the little tag hanging from the bunch of flowers.

they were just for him, from you. sweet daisies, pink tulips and classic red roses, and you had picked them out specifically in hopes to represent his fast approaching recovery from his cold.

if it wasn't for daniel's protective nature, his arguments of potentially spreading his sickness to you, although it was only mild, you would have been there in the flesh, cuddled up next to him to make sure he felt loved and ate his soup and got his rest.

flowers were a close runners up to having you next to him person, daniel assured you. he kept his eye on the brightly shaded flowers all day, from gazing at them while the microwave hummed for a couple minutes to sneaking glances as he sat on the couch, legs draped lazily and head lolled back. they reminded him that he was cared for, of your unconditional love and heart-warming kindness.
