I still remember the third of December, me in your sweater

You said it looked better on me than it did you

Only if you knew how much I liked you

"Did you have fun?" Daniel asked, taking a sip of his drink. He sniffled, looking back towards Y/n with a subtle upturn of lips etched in his features.

"Yeah, it was pretty chill." Y/n answered simply, sliding her fingers out of her pocket to now steady her hot cup of coffee with two hands. The pair of friends walked down the well-trodden path in a relaxed manner, despite knowing they had about ten minutes to get to school right before the bell would ring. Spring had just settled with beautiful gardens and low-lying bushes growing everywhere. In other words, the flowers and trees that encompassed the quiet park had Daniel sniffling and pulling out tissues every few minutes while Y/n was talking. But she didn't mind, not one bit. It reminded her that Daniel was there beside her...and listening.

"Did you get any presents?" Daniel asked.

Y/n paused before answering, "no actually," she chuckled. "But I don't really want anything anyway."

"Not even a present from me?" Daniel pouted towards her, soft lips tugged downwards and blue eyes shimmering in the hazy golden glow from the sun above. Y/n felt her cheeks grow warmer at the perfect sight of him and she let out a few quiet giggles - muffled by the to-go she held to her lips. He always looked so relaxed and handsome in the morning.

"Oh God. What is it now, Daniel?" Y/n uttered. Daniel let a smirk grace his lips and he slowed down his pace near the park bench they always passed on their walk to school. "Why are we stopping?"

"Because I'm going to give it to you, dummy," He chuckled, shifting his backpack so that it rested on his chest. He zipped it open and unveiled a blue gift bag that he'd tucked deep into his backpack to keep it safe. It was nearly crumpled from all of his stuff in there and Y/n could only see a glimpse of a soft sky-blue peeking through but thought the gesture was so sweet. She waited without a word as he pulled it out.

"Close your eyes and hold out your hands." Daniel instructed sternly. Y/n frowned but did as he told. The gift bag dangled in front of her before Daniel finally placed it in her cupped palms. She opened her eyes, only to scrunch them back up in excitement. She stuck her hand in the bag and slowly pulled out the soft sweater. Daniel watched as her tired eyes lit up at the messily folded crewneck in his hands.

"Wait," she frowned at him. "Isn't this yours?" She said, inspecting the dyed light blue material, embroidered with a navy Nike logo and tick.

"Yeah," Daniel admitted shyly, shuffling his backpack on the right way. "But it's clean, and you might be hot-" he stopped and chuckled at his own words, unknowing of the sudden rich red that washed over Y/n's cheeks again. She bowed her head to the floor. "I mean, the weather might be too hot to wear it, but it's your favourite colour!" He finished with a grin. Y/n raised her eyes to his and nodded.

"Yeah, it is," She laughed. The two of them leaned in for a small hug and wrapped their arms around each other securely. Y/n didn't want to seem too excited for something so simple, so she thanked him with a relaxed, "I love it. Thanks Daniel." as they pulled away.

"It's nothing." He shrugged. Y/n smiled, holding the sweater further up her face a little to smell the fresh scent of Daniel's cologne while they continued their walk to school.
