summary: you and Daniel kiss under the stars
It was quiet outside. It was rare for you and Daniel to bask in the silence of the night. To forego playful banter or conversation to appreciate the stars above. But it was peaceful. It was almost necessary amidst the constant craziness of life. With your head pressed against his, and your bodies lying in opposite directions, the both of you stayed silent. Your eyes fixated on the night sky above, almost falling shut under the serenity of nature and the comfortable presence of your boyfriend.
Daniel barely paid any mind to the sky unless it was rendered with pretty colours of dusk and dawn, or if it was embedded with some sort of writing from a plane as a message for a loved one. But over the period of your relationship, he'd become accustomed to your lingering stares out of windows and the subtle upturn of your lips at the sight of stars sewn into the dark velvet blanket that stretched to infinity. When he really looked, he could understand why it was captivating. The light of stars piercing the navy blue wasn't nearly as bright as the light you naturally radiated in his mind. Still, it was beautiful. Daniel tried to drift his eyes to each tiny sparkle individually. There weren't many of them at night in the city of L.A., but there were enough to have him keep a little count in his head as if to busy himself. An empty quiet park felt somewhat strange to him.
Sounds of distant music to the blaring of sirens cutting through the silence reminded you that this was temporary. That stars would drain out of the sky, the sun would rise, and the world around you wouldn't be so quiet. In favour of savouring every minute of it, you shifted in place, slowly rolling over so that you were now laying on your stomach. Your downcast eyes peered into Daniel's. He smiled, flickering his gaze to your lips. Your hands found their way to the sides of his face, caressing his cheeks and brushing the slightly prickly beard on his chin.
Daniel felt his smile grow bigger as he absorbed the sight of you, your chaste touches and quiet breathing pouring out love to him easily. You noticed his gaze dropping down to your lips and up to your eyes again. You smirked. At first, you leaned in gently, pressing your lips to his. Then, you felt Daniel's hand snake around your head, his fingers weaving through your hair as you kissed each other. He felt the smallest hint of coolness as you pulled away for a fresh breath of air. You shared smiles condensed with not only peace, but a million loving thoughts, Daniel showed off his little tooth gap and your upturned lips lured him in for more. The fresh memory of your lips colliding wasn't enough to warm his heart and he curled his fingers into the material of your shirt to feel your lips on his again.
Butterflies bloomed in his stomach, and the tickle of your lips working their way down his neck had giggles erupting from his throat like impromptu flares of music. Daniel lightly guided your head back up to his and placed one final strong kiss to your lips. For the rest of your time at the park, between his addictive kisses and the peacefulness of the night, you wished to stay in this moment forever.
