Victoria

"Back here, again, Ms. Robinson? 3rd time this week." Alpha Hale said, sitting behind his mahogany colored desk, looking down at a stack of papers sitting between the two of us on said desk. "Would you like to elaborate on what happened this time or do we need a reminder as to why you're here?" He said, his hazel-green eyes looking up at me through wrinkled covered eyelids.

I shrugged, leaning back in the creaky, old chair I was provided every time I came into this crummy office of his. It was not what you would think an alpha's office would be like. With just a filing cabinet, a desk, and a few chairs, it looked like it could have belonged to a school principal. Not a leader of a pack of werewolves.

"Good question." I purred, pushing myself off the back of the chair and giving a wicked smile, my canines showing and red hair falling over one of my eyes hazel eyes. "Was it getting into a fight with William, the little guard dog at the boundaries, or was it the fact I went running through the forest at 3 am when I wasn't supposed to? Because both happened last night."

Hale exhaled through his nostrils and pinched the bridge of his nose. I probably added some to the wrinkles on his face and hands and was probably half the reason his head was almost full of grey hair by this point. "I hope you do understand that fighting with pack officials is going against guidelines and running around, recklessly, through the woods, in wolf form, in the middle of the night, where you could easily be spotted, is NOT okay either."

I chuckled. "Oh, come on. It's not THAT bad. Is it? Will deserved it for trying to stop me. And even if I WAS seen, people would just assume I was a regular wolf and move on with their lives. It's not that big of a deal." I huffed, leaning back. Hale looked up at me. "You do realize you're 3 times bigger than the average wolf around here? And most of the average wolves around here are grey or white while you're an ALL RED one!" He almost screamed the last part. "We are supposed to keep away from the humans who hike and camp just a couple miles from our pack on that trail. You know this, Victoria. You could have easily run into one and spooked them. Or even worse, get killed."

I shrugged. "Would have been better than living in this shit for show place." I bit back and got back up from my seat. "You won't do anything to me anyways. Not while my dad's beta. And you know the moment you took him under your wing to help run this shitty pack that you'd have to stick with both him AND me until both of you are dead." I said and turned away. But he tsked at me. "Before you go, I'm going to have to tell you your consequence." He called after me. But I didn't listen and just waved a hand. "Don't worry. Dad told me. Gotta help clean up the pack prison for a week. Ya, ya. Whatever." I said before opening his office door and walking out.

As I walked through the familiar hallway to the living room to get to the front door, I bumped into the alpha's son, August Hale. 22-year old, black haired, blue eyed, and dark stubble over his strong jawline and high cheekbones. A cocky, over privileged, spoiled, arrogant asshole, is what I like to describe him. He's usually a jerk whenever I see him because he thinks that just because he's the alpha's kid and the next in line for alpha, he can use that power to his advantage.

August gave me a little smirk and leaned against the wall, in direct way of the front door, blocking me in. "May I help you?" I asked, trying to walk around him. But he moved to stand over me. At 5'5", I stood almost a foot shorter than him, when he stands at 6'2".

"Move, August. I need to leave." I spat, trying to move around him once more. But he, once again, moved to stop me. "Not so fast, little rule breaker." He purred, coming closer to me. I tried looking away from his face, but his pointer finger hooked under my chin and the pad of his thumb right under my bottom lip and he pulled my face up to his.

"Why, is it, that you're always here?" He asked, his smirk widening. I tried pulling away from him. "Let me go." I growled. But he pushed me up against a wall, both hands of his, next to my head. The overwhelming stench of pine tree and oranges stinging my nose hairs and bringing water to my eyes.

But before he could do or say anything, both of us heard footsteps come down from the hallway. It was most likely his father coming. So, August pushed off the wall and distanced himself from me before Alpha Hale appeared. None of us spoke a word to each other. But just stared.

August was the one to speak up. "I was just saying goodbye to Victoria." August said, stuffing his hands into his pants pockets. "Tori." I said, simply, coming off the wall, too. "I go by Tori, August. You should know this by now." I spat at him. "With all the years you've known me."

And with that, I headed straight for the front door and left, not allowing the two behind me say anything else.
