August

I can't believe her. Can't believe why she has to be the one I'm destined to be with.

I went back to my office after seeing that stupid, little rule breaker, and wanted to try and work on something. But every once in a while, my mind kept going back on her.

The girl with the red hair, big brown-green eyes, tanned skin, freckles. The way she smelled like hibiscus and oranges. And how beautiful she is...

"Fuck." I huffed, leaning over my desk and putting my head in my hands. I didn't think she'd be able to get inside my head so easily. But she was. And I really hated it.

There was a knock on my office door. Looking up, there was the one person that I couldn't stop thinking about. "What did you do, now, Victoria?" I asked, looking down at the mound of papers in front of me on my desk.

"I just thought you'd want to see what I did to make up for the vandalism, the other day. Or I guess, what my dad made me do. Obviously it wasn't my idea." Victoria sighed at me. I looked back up and she was leaning on the door frame, her arms crossed over her chest.

I shook my head no. "Thanks, I guess. But I'll look later." I stated, before looking back down and flipped through the papers. "So you're going to say no to me? Your mate?" She asked, her footsteps walking closer to me. I almost growled. "You don't have to keep stating it to me, Tori." I mocked her nickname and looked up at the red haired girl standing before me. Her scent was strong while she was so close. If I didn't hate her, I'd grab her right then and there and smell her.

She rolled her eyes at me. "Well I have to. Cos we're stuck in this situation together, Mr. Alpha man. So come on. Take a break." And before I could object, she pulled me from my seat and out the house.

We came up to the wall that she wrote in black paint that I was a dumbass. The wall was back to, well close enough, to the dull red-brown color the bricks were. And there was what looked like to be a handmade, wooden bench that was painted in my favorite color. Green.

"Oh, that's nice. Thanks." I mumbled and scratched the back of my neck. I wasn't expecting this much. Probably just the wall being done.

"Also," She started, walking over to the bench and grabbing what looked like to be a rose sitting underneath it before handing it to me. "That was actually my idea. Mark, the grocer, was cutting roses from his little garden when I walked in there. After you so grumpily grabbed me then stormed away."

I was staring at the rose before looking at Victoria. For the first time, in forever actually, she seemed genuine. "I guess this is an apology?" I smirked. She scrunched her nose and shook her head. "Of course not. Don't let it get to your head." She huffed, trying to put back up her tough facade. But I wasn't falling for it again.

I stepped towards her small frame. She didn't seem to move before looking up to me and didn't to seem to care this time when I gently took her chin in between my fingers. "Don't do what I think you're going to do. I'll kill you." She whispered, her eyes quickly flicking to my lips. But I ignored her and leaned in.

I heard her inhale as I kissed her. But she didn't pull away and I felt her hands grip my shirt, trying to pull me closer.

She was the one to pull away, but looked up into my eyes. "Goddess, I hate you." She whispered before kissing me again, this time more heated. I wrapped my free arm around her and gripped her butt. Earning a giggle. "Not yet, August." She said before fully pulling away from me and out of my grip. "You have to take me out to dinner, first." She said, walking away. "How about tonight? Can I trust you in the human world?" I called after her.

She turned around and started to walk backwards before shrugging. "Up to you if you want to take that chance, Mr. Hale." She called back. I just smirked. "Come back at 7. I'll drive." I said, earning me a faint smile from her. "Good. Cos I don't have a car. See you at 7." And then she turned back around and walked away.
