Victoria

I was chained to a pole hanging from the ceiling for goddess knows how long now. The metal it the handcuffs were made of seemed to rub my wrists raw, leaving behind angry blisters and red patches that I wasn't able to heal fast enough before more came.

All I know, was I was in here for at least 2 to 3 days now, I stunk like rotting fish, I was hungry, and was tired. Guards came by with scraps of meat from whatever they hunted and just enough water to barely keep me alive. And there was nothing in my cell other than me, my restraints, and the dirt.

So much for him acting like a decent mate. I thought to myself. Granted, he was always kind of a jerk to me. And I kind of acted out of line before I got thrown in here. But that wasn't going to cause me to stop being what he likes to call, a "disobedient, disrespectful rule breaker". Or at least that's what I heard the guards say that he said.

I heard the metal door open in front of me, it creaking from rust and probably old age, and I looked up. And there stood my father, looking worried as hell. "Tori. What happened?" He asked, rushing over me and getting on his knees to unlock the handcuffs with the key. Which I assume he forced from August or a guard.

People said I was a spitting image of my father. We both had red hair, hazel eyes, and the same facial features. The only difference we really had was our nose shapes. I got mine from my mom. But that was about it. And he just so happened to be on a business trip for the old alpha, and I assume he just got back and heard I was in here.

"August happened." I huffed once he unlocked the cuffs and I rubbed a raw wrist. Dad took me up in his arms and hugged me tightly. He wouldn't let go for several moments, and was acting like he was about to lose me. Which, I hope, he knew wouldn't exactly happen. At least not today.

Finally he let me go and pulled away. "What did he do?" He asked as he helped me stand and out of the cell. I shrugged and followed him out and into the sunlight. It burned my eyes and I had to block it with a hand. I allowed my eyes to adjust before dropping it and shrugging again. "I kind of got in trouble with August and he got all up in my face and so I attacked him." I mumbled, looking down and playing with my fingers. "And also, I kind of attacked him because he was acting like an arrogant butt over the fact that we're mates." I said, biting my lip.

I looked back up at my dad and he gave me a look of disbelief. "You? And August? Ya, right." He said, grabbing my hand gently and leading us back to our home. But I made no comment. Which made my dad pause and look back at me. "You two never got along. Even as little kids. Why in the moon goddess' name would you two be mates?" He asked. "I don't know, dad. I'm just as confused as you are. I honestly just want to get home and take a shower and sleep."

But before we started walking again, I heard grass crunch behind me and the scent of pine trees and fire smoke wafted over me. Oh, no. Please not him. ANYONE but him. I silently pled with the moon goddess. But I turned around and saw the one guy I DIDN'T want to see. August.

"Good morning, Beta Robinson. I see you've returned home safe and sound. I'm glad." August said with his signature smirk, a little nod of his head, and his hands behind his back. Then he looked over to me and his smirk dropped. "Victoria." He said. Wow. He acknowledged me in a semi normal way. First time for everything, I guess

"You are in big trouble, son." My father growled at August. "How dare you put my daughter in a fucking prison cell for standing up to you? I get she isn't the best wolf in the pack, but being both disrespectful to her AND throwing her in a cell is not okay." He yelled. But all August did was give a half ass sympathy bow to my dad. "My apologies, Beta Robinson. I can assure you it will not happen again. As long as Victoria can help me better understand her and her needs." He said, his eyes shifting to me before giving me a wink and a smirk. Which sent a gross feeling down my spine.

"Oh, my goddess. Shut up, August. You're disgusting." I fake gagged and turned on my heel to walk away. "Just. Go do some, alpha things. I need a shower." And I left before I could give August a chance to respond to me. I heard footsteps following after me, and I really hoped it was my dad's footsteps. Which, luckily, it was. Because he came up right to my side as we came up to our little, yellow sided home and he fished out his key to unlock the door.

"You go take a hot shower and change. And maybe I can make you your favorite for lunch. How does chicken salad sound?" My dad asked as we walked through the door and into the little area that had a set of stairs, leading up to our bedrooms, and our two bathrooms, and then a hallway next to the stairs that led to the living room and kitchen. I nodded and gave my dad a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks, daddy." I said before running up the flight of stairs.

I walked into my room first. The walls were painted a dark purple, with one wall painted black. Then there was my bed with my red, purple, and black blanket, a little black desk that I did work on, a brown sliding door that held my closet, and a dresser.

Walking over to my dresser, it stood up to my chest. It wasn't a huge one, just enough to hold what it needed to hold. I tugged at the first drawer and grabbed a new pair of underwear. I wasn't really looking to wear a bra today.

After grabbing clothes from my closet, I walked over to my bathroom that was across the hall and turned my shower on, before stripping myself off my clothes.

As the shower warmed, I sat on the edge of the tub, my thoughts racing. Why did he have to be my mate? I didn't want August Hale as my mate. Him being cocky and throwing me in a stupid jail cell like I was nothing. I felt like I wanted to cry. But no tears came out.

Wanted to cry in frustration. Cry about how he treated me. About how he was my damned mate and I was his. But all I did was sigh, feel the water, and get in.
