A lethal calm

Falls over me

As I open the door

Stepping into the land of

Snowy mountains,

Flowery meadows,

Autumn forests,

Swirling colors,

Sweeping into the minds

Of the people who don't exist

And never will

But who live in

The memory

And imagination

Of those who do.

The world of realms

The castles of kings and queens

The faith in the poor

The hope in the rich

The tears of the different

The laughter as they are all the same

The action of war

The death of favorites

All passing by in a blink

A whole lifetime trapped

A whole different story

As each realm holds something new

Moving so fast

Yet so slow

But before you know it

Their lives are complete

And no more tale to tell

The people whirl away

Changed by the end

Different but the same

As they are all tormented

And laughter echoes

As you step back through

That big door

Made of wood,

Paper,

Leather,

Fear,

Hate,

Smiles,

Joy,

And back into the horrendous

Real world

With crime

And disease

And hate.

Hate so imaginable as it comes from all angles

And you think

Maybe it is better back there

So you open another door,

And begin a new life.
