(Trigger Warning: Grief)
It comes in waves
Like a crashing sea bringing both the tide and the storm.
First it's the numbness,
You're just there and everything
Spins around you.
Then comes the grief,
The tears that you just can't hold back
Because there's nothing you can do.
It's over now.
Then the guilt,
Because why do you deserve to feel this way
When so many others feel so much worse
Right now.
Then the fear:
Will I ever be able to pick up on it?
Will I ever notice the loss before it comes? Then as the waves settle,
And the tide goes out,
You're just there in your empty shell
Grieving.
