I was gonna go to Julia's roommate and apologize for the 'drunk entrance' I made.
Suddenly, the grubhub man with a Burger King bag races through the hallway, shoving me.
"Uh, do you even mind?!"
A man, way older than me by 20-ish years (looks like to me) picks up the bag. "Thanks. Here's your tip,"
The grubhub man frowns.
I spot him walking away, seeing a one dollar bill in his hand.
I snort. "Wow, he's cheap..." I say under my breath.
I could NOT believe that the potbelly man who wanted Burger King doesn't even tip that nice man (who's sweating all over) more than a buck! Wow.
As I went to the next set of stairs, my phone calls.
It was mom. "Hello?"
"Hey honey, how's college going?"
I nodded slowly. "Great... San Francisco was just what I needed,"
I imagined that warm smile that my mother makes everyday for me and my sister.
"That's great to hear hun... your father and sister, especially your sister, misses you very much!"
A grin forms on my face. "Well tell Sarah that I'm gonna be visiting you all ON SPRING BREAK!!" I say, the last words as a surprise.
"Wait- really?!"
I snicker. "Surprise!"
"Oh my goodness! That's great! Spring Break is just a couple of days ahead, is that right?"
"Yep. Next week,"
"Well that's great because the day that spring break first starts is Sarah's spring show!"
Joy spreads through me. "Really?"
"Mhm. And we're all gonna celebrate after her show is done! I plan to make a floral cake- oh! What flowers do you want?"
I thought. "...Peonies,"
Not only my mother was a great nurse, but she is an amazing baker as well. (Not gonna lie).
"Peonies! Great!"
I chuckle. "Aren't you getting too ahead?"
"Justin Mason Beckett! You can never be too early for any celebration whatsoever!"
My mom's so cute. I laugh. "Whatever you say mom,"
"Alright, I gotta go, okay sweetie?"
"I LOVE YOU JUSTIE!!" Sarah butts in. Her sweet voice fills up the phone.
"Love you too Sarah," I kiss my phone.
The phone hung up by my mother from the other end. I smile. The warm memories fill my bright day.
I knocked on the door. Julia shows up.
Her bright red smile. "Good morning,"
"Hey Julia... is your roommate here?"
Her smiles fades into a disappointing frown. "...My roommate? Why do you wanna know?"
I sighed. "I want to talk to her about yesterday,"
"What about yesterday?"
"Remember when I got drunk?" She nods. "...I uh... I kinda said weird things and I... I just you know, wanted to apologize to her,"
She nods again. "Of course, but she's not here,"
"She's not?" Julia shakes her head, her blonde curls moving as well. "Oh... well where is she?"
"At the pool district,"
I nod. "Okay then, thanks!"
She catches my arm. "Oh wait! Do you want to come over to my dorm... maybe later?"
"Sure. Later," She nods.
