Suddenly, Taylor dialed back.
I immediately snatch the phone from Heidi's hand. "Um... H-Hi! Something you needed? My phone, just , dropped that's all!" I lied as I stared at Heidi and frowned.
"It's okay, I was just gonna tell you some news, good news, of course!"
"Well, what happened?"
I was trying to shut the bathroom door, but Heidi stuck her foot in the way and grinned. "Okay so, remember when I told you about my dance audition and stuff?"
"Yeah."
I frowned again and forcefully opened the door.
"Since you wanna hear THAT bad..." I growled through my teeth.
"Well uh- wait what?"
"What? No, nothing, just my roommate..." I say with edge to my tone.
Heidi laughs, shaking her head. "Anyway, so yeah, I heard about your audition... did it go well?"
"...I got in for finals."
I widened my eyes. "Oh my- oh my god!! That's great!! I knew you could do it!"
Taylor bends down on her knees, still laughing.
"Oh my god, you literally put so much hope for me- you wished me well, didn't you?"
I nodded vigorously. "Oh you have no idea!"
Heidi waves as she walks out the door with her crossbody purse strapped onto her. I waved back right as she mouthed the words: "Talk to her!"
I widened my eyes at her. "She likes you... BEEEE HONESSSST!!"
I gave her a 'You've-gotta-be-kidding-me' look.
Heidi flips me off and sticks her tongue out, quietly laughing at me before she shut the door.
I shook my head and rolled my eyes, laughing. "But yeah, that's awesome Tay."
"Um... did you just call me Tay?"
I flushed, realizing what I said. "Uh- no! I-I didn't mean it like that!!" Heidi shakes her head, smiling. I heard Taylor giggle over the phone. "What I meant to say was-"
"Cute name... I'll keep it. It's better than what my ex called me."
"Oh, who's your ex?"
Taylor made a 'Pfft' noise. "Wouldn't you like to know..." She joked.
"N-no, I just wanna know, just curious-"
"I was just kidding, Justin. I don't have an ex."
I froze. "Oh, o-okay." She starts to laugh. "I didn't know I hope I didn't sound desperate." I mumbled at the end.
"You're not desperate. Besides, if I did have an ex, then it wood be a bit awkward."
"Right..." I walked over to the counter to grab me a quick snack.
"Anyway, I'll catch you later Justin Bieber-"
"Oh, wait-wait-wait!" I jumped over the couch. "Uh, when is your finals for your dance recital?"
"Oh, right. I forgot, my bad... it's this Friday, at 7:00."
I wrote on the paper closest to me so I wouldn't forget. "Thanks! I won't miss it!"
Taylor looked shocked. "You'll be there? ...For me?"
"Of course Taylor! I wouldn't miss it for the world, I love you-" I stumbled dead in my tracks.
Taylor blushed.
Then, she said something that I couldn't help being shocked to. "...I love you too."
