Chapter 28: "Scared" Pt. 2
Harvey's P.O.V:
Many days later
I was constantly at home, I didn't feel like going out, I didn't have the urge to even get up from my bed to get something to eat. I left my curtains closed and I refuse to let the sun rays shine through the windows.
There would be times I would look over at my phone, sitting on the nightstand, no cables plugged into it. I didn't bother to charge it although the battery was flat. I didn't see the need to use it.
Connor called me a couple of times through the house phone, which my dad helped me to pick up. He was gonna come over and discuss about something with me for a bit. Maybe if I was feeling a little better we could continue producing the song together.
-
20 minutes later
Connor comes over and sits at the corner of my bed while I relax with my head laying on the pillows.
"Harvey, what happened? Your phone has been off and you don't seem to have gotten sufficient sleep recently. Those dark eye circles are pretty bad." Connor asked.
"Loren broke up with me. Or I guess she was jealous over a girl who apparently lied to Loren that I liked her. Which is not the case, not even close to the truth. And now Loren wants us to take a break. I don't know what to do anymore. Usually I would only be on my phone because of her. Nothing else. We promised to marry each other, we've been through so much together but never needed some distance from each other. Not until now. And that makes me really sad. I thought we were together long enough and been through enough to know how to make it through such mistakes with trust and love. But she trusted that girl who was basically a stranger to her over someone who knows her better than anyone else, me. I don't get it Connor, why would she believe her?"
He holds out his hand and gently pats my shoulder.
"Dude, sometimes, when you are in such a fragile state, you tend to believe anything that comes. The first information you get, you believe it. And when the truth is being said, you are unable to believe it. She was broken, she was overwhelmed, that's why she believed her and not you. I do that too, but for us, all we need is some space and time, and we will be able to make the right decisions again. I've known you for almost all my life and Loren for half of that, I doubt she wouldn't get back together with you. You guys overcame all the challenges couples face and with great communication and trust. But maybe she was extremely fragile because of the assumptions she made and now she just needs some time to reflect and think about whatever she did. Give her some time bro, trust me. She will come back to you, back in your arms." Connor reassured.
I couldn't help but let out a little smile.
"Thanks man, I appreciate the reassurance."
"How about we work on some music?" He suggests.
"I want to put that song on hold first. I have another idea in mind."
"Hmm?"
"I want to write a song about her."
-
"La la la la la la la la la la means I love you girl." I said out loud as Connor wrote it down in the notebook.
"That line is pretty catchy." Connor commented.
"I feel like it sounds a little bare you know? Like there's an element missing to this whole song. It needs something to contrast well to my voice."
"Yeah I agree on that. But what would fit well with this soundtrack and your voice?"
"Let me think about it alone for a bit alright? I need some rest, I'm getting a little tired."
