Act 1: Bred of War
Prologue
The year was 2036. The population kept on rising and eventually agricultural countries had to devote more and more of their products to their own people, rather than shipping them to allies. The United States did this, and most of the larger countries(such as Britain, Russian, Japan, and China) didn't notice a thing. Smaller countries in Eastern Europe however, began to become poorer and their people began to starve. Ukraine was still shipping out food, but it had to slowly cut it down as their own population began to grow again.
There was also a large drought that occurred worldwide, making food even more scarce, precious, and expensive than usual.
What happened next was a surprise to everyone. Belarus and Moldova attacked Ukraine. They began to pillage villages and install their own citizens to take over the farms as quickly as they could. The Ukrainians hardly had time to react, losing millions in a few short weeks. Many citizens fled from the country to Russia or the United States rather than fight. The first being the politicians.
Nataliya Misko lived in the city of Poltava in the eastern-central part of Ukraine. She was barely 13-years-old when the war had started, and it had only been raging on for a few months. It was late November and was starting to get very cold.
Nataliya was short for her age, around 150 cm tall, and was fairly thin, not having eaten well regularly. She had pitch black hair, perfectly straight and reaching down to her shoulder blades. She was fresh-faced with a clean complexion and symmetrical features. She had small, grey, piercing eyes with long lashes. Her breasts had barely begun to developed and her hips were unusually small. Her hips actually made it impossible for her to give birth without a cesarean section, not that she much cared at the time.
She lived with her sister, Lilia, and her mother, Mykhalia. Their father had died when Nataliya was eight-years-old. A thief broke into their home while Mykhalia had the children away, he took what food they had left and killed their father.
After their father died, things became much worse for their family. Mykhalia became a prostitute in order for her children to eat, they were evicted from their home, moving into an older, dirtier part of the city.
Poltava was flooded with soldiers, apparently the enemy forces were getting ready to attack the city, a key defensive position, so the Ukrainian forces needed to be ready. The citizens were expected to accept the soldiers into their homes and feed them, there were whispers and rumors of assaults and rapes by the soldiers, but those were quickly dealt with by commanding officers. The hard thing was food. The people were expected to feed the soldiers well, and when most of the people themselves were eating scrapes of food, they had almost nothing left for themselves to eat.
Nataliya's family didn't have a soldier staying with them, Mykhalia made sure of this by sleeping with a few city officials, the government being easily exploited as it was. She was actually doing well for herself during the time the soldiers were there, Nataliya and Lilia hadn't eaten so well since before their father died.
Nataliya was sitting in her room reading, the library was shut down, but Nataliya found a way to break in and steal things, she was good at that, always climbing and finding places to hide, she was very observant. She was wearing loose fitting black jeans, and a grey Tee-shirt, as well as a warm black jacket(for their apartment didn't have any heat). The sound of gunfire and explosions were clearly heard a few kilometers away, and had been for the past few hours, but Nataliya ignored it. The book she was reading was Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. She found it a bit boring, but she didn't have too many friends, so she had nothing better to do.
Lilia was out with friends, doing god knows what. Lilia was 16-years-old, still not particularly tall, standing at about 165 cm high. She too was fairly thin. She had the same pitch black hair, it was straight but better maintained than Nataliya's, it also reached down to just above her shoulders. She had the same complexion and facial symmetry as Nataliya, but was much more attractive. She had bright green, calming, eyes with long lashes. Unlike Nataliya, Lilia's breasts were firm and well shaped, not full grown, but still a good size. She had well sized hips and a well shaped butt. She had a bit of an hourglass figure, but not too much, and she tended to catch the gaze of about everyone in a room, men and women alike. Lilia also loved to talk, she absolutely loved to. She could talk for hours with someone without the other person getting in a single word. Her smile was lively and conveyed every bit of her naïveté and optimism. It was also infectious, it just made others want to smile as well.
Nataliya was much more down-to-earth, finding her sister's optimism a bit annoying at times. But she couldn't help loving her sister, she was the nicest person Nataliya had ever met(not that many people were too nice those days), and she always knew what to say, even if she was verbose about it.
Nataliya heard the door swing open loudly and she heard loud footsteps inside. Ever the cautious one, Nataliya hid behind the door. The door opened and she heard her sister's sweet voice, "Fuck, where is she?"
Nataliya quickly moved from behind the door, Nataliya had a bit of a deeper voice than her sisters, even a bit raspy at times, and said, "I'm here, why the hurry?"
Lilia was wearing tight jeans, showing off her perfect butt well, and a low cut white top, revealing her cleavage pretty well too, a typical dress for her frankly, she was also wearing a worn, brown, leather jacket, "Apparently the Ukrainian Troops ran from the battlefield and now a horde of Belarusians are coming to the city, we have to leave now!" Her smile was gone, her eyes were filled with fear and her legs were shaking.
"We can't leave Mom!" Nataliya yelled.
Lilia grabbed her sister's wrist and looked her in the eyes, "The battle was a few kilometers away and some of the Belarusian bastards have already started to clear the city! Mom would want us to leave her!"
"She wouldn't leave us! We can't leave her!"
"She's our mother, she has to protect us, our job is to survive, her's is to ensure that!" Lila began to drag her sister out of the room.
Nataliya bit her sister's arm, causing her to yelp, and ran to the corner yelling, "We have to wait for her!"
"No! We'll be raped and murdered if we stay here!"
Nataliya remained steadfast.
"FUCK!" Lilia yelled, "Come on, we'll go find her at her work!" Lilia held out her hand.
Nataliya ran and grabbed her sister's hand, they left their home and ran out into the streets. Hundreds of people were trying to escape the city, the gunfire was heard much closer than before. All the cars were empty, obviously the traffic had been too great to escape that way, so the people took to their feet and tried to run.
