Chapter 10: The Death of Peace
For almost two and a half years after Nataliya's first meeting with Dr. Henshawe, they continued to see one another each and every Thursday, except for Nataliya's breaks. Nataliya was getting A's in all of her classes without putting in too much effort, and she didn't get into another physical confrontation in that time either. Her and Heidi's relationship was going great(until recently), but they never got to sleep in the same bed for an entire night again, thanks to Gretchen.
Nataliya had grown another 6 centimeters and put on more muscle. her breasts grew a miniscule amount and she grew her hair out to her shoulder blades, but she always kept it tied back in a pony tail.
She was at her weekly meeting with Dr. Henshawe. Nataliya was able to swing so many of their sessions back on the doctor that they eventually boiled down to conversations rather than sessions. Nataliya was lounging on the couch while Dr. Henshawe sat in her chair.
"Have you heard about America shipping food back to Eastern Europe again?" Dr. Henshawe began.
"Yeah, using that new robotic yeast farming thing, right?" Nataliya stated.
"Yeah, I was wondering how you felt about that?"
"What do you mean?"
"Well the war in Ukraine was fought over food. Then the Moldovans and Belarusians fought over that same food, effectively destroying your home country, I was curious how you felt about it?"
"I get plenty of German grown food now, so I don't care about it."
"But the thing that could have saved your country was just invented two years late."
"Its a bit annoying I guess, but Ukraine was dying anyway, the Belarusians and Moldovans just expedited the process. And besides, they have been doing the same thing to one another recently, that feels like pretty good revenge to me."
"I was hoping for something a bit more enlightening."
"I'm so sorry doctor, do you want me to put some fake depression in there?"
She laughed and said, "No that's fine."
They were silent for a moment before Nataliya said, "Oh, how goes the online dating?"
The doctor sighed, "Not great... I have my fourth date in the past month last Friday."
"Told you that site was bullshit."
"They have lots of positive results, I am just unlucky."
"It's the money isn't it."
"Yes. They must all look me up and find out that my dad is a billionaire, they either stick me with the bill, demand expensive food, or talk about marriage on the second date."
"You could put a fake name."
"That isn't very honest though."
"I've seen a few teachers around here flirt with you, why not try out one of them?"
"They're all married, except for one."
