Chapter 14: The Bell Tolls
The van pulled up outside the church, it was a traditional gothic style, grey stone, a large bell tower in the front. They walked in, the sun was set and the church was empty, save for a single priest lighting some candles. The inside of the church was not very well maintained, the walls and floors were paved with stone, there was a single red rug stretching from the altar to the door. there were pews set around large amounts of stone pillars and looked more like an ancient ruin than a currently operational church. The church itself had no insulation, even with their jackets on the girls were extremely cold.
They sat down on one of the pews in the back.
The priest wandered towards them and said, "My children, is there anything I can do for you this evening?"
"Thank you father," Heidi said, "But we are simply waiting for someone to pick us up."
"What are two young ladies doing out here this evening?"
"I just said we were waiting for someone to pick us up."
"Very well," he hurried back to the altar.
After only a few minutes Nataliya heard cars stopping outside, she didn't get suspicious until she heard multiple boots.
"Shit!" Nataliya yelled, pulling out her gun, "It's Interpol!"
The two girls went to the front door and peered out of the keyhole. There he was, Superintendent Bellanger, as well as nearly two dozen soldiers with full body armor and assault rifles.
"Fuck!" Heidi said, "What are we going to do!?"
Superintendent Bellanger put a small device up to his mouth, amplifying his voice, as he spoke, "Nataliya Misko and Heidi Adler! Come out now with your hands up! There is no escape!"
The priest was closing in on the door.
"We have a hostage!" Nataliya yelled at the top of her lungs.
Superintendent Bellanger began speaking with one of the others.
The priest hurried and ran towards the door, trying to open it. A gunshot resonated, blasting through the door, as well as the priests chest. He slumped against the door and slid down.
Heidi began cackling as she said, "Did you see that? I have always wanted to shoot a priest!"
Nataliya looked at Heidi coldly, saying, "What the fuck were you THINKING!? We needed him to get out of this shit ALIVE!"
"Well we can just shoot our way out!"
"No we can't! There is a fucking army out there in full body armor!"
"Well why didn't you say that earlier!?"
"I thought you were fucking looking too!"
"It's too late now, let's try and kill them!"
"We can't!"
"Yes we can!"
"You fucking retarded WHORE!" Nataliya yelled, angrier than she had ever been, "The doctor was fucking right, you aren't worth it!"
