"Dom?! What are...Where've you been?"
Mia asks in surprise.
"Got some new tools at Harry's."
He briefly exchanges eye contact with Letty before putting the box on the workbench.
All three focus on work until Vince arrives a few minutes later.
"Girls, sorry about yesterday. Shouldn't have flipped out like that."
"You're damn right."
Letty replies annoyed.
"I'll never do it again. Promise." "Sure."
"How is your mom?" Dom asks with two Coke cans in hand. "Not good man. She has breast cancer."
He informs saddened and takes a can from Dom. "Shit."
"Oh no."
"I'm sorry, brother." Letty, Mia and Dom react in dismay to their friend's bad news.
"She's shattered, man. We aren't insured and have to pay for chemo and those things ourselves."
"How much does that cost?"
Dom asks.
"About 10,000 per session. Our money might last for 3 or 4 therapies."
"Call Leon. We're robbing again."
"Really?"
"There's no other way to pay these bills."
Dom explains and Letty nods in agreement.
On the following Friday, the team successfully strikes again at night in the Palmdale desert.
Everything happens almost the same as last time - except the fact that Dom demands more money from Carlos, the black market trader. He receives $160,000 for the stolen goods.
"I don't know what to say. Thank you so much!"
Vince radiates with joy when the money is split in the Toretto living room.
"You would've done the same for us. Already did."
Dom replies with a smile and the best friends embrace.
"So, should we stop or go on with it? I mean, y'all know we could never make this much money anywhere else."
"True. But what if something goes wrong?"
"Dom and Mia still have tons of debts and his mom's life depends on bucks. This is the only way for them to get thru."
Jesse and Leon discuss.
"Guys, I really appreciate what you're doing for us. But Jesse's right. It's too dangerous.
Mia worries.
In the end, all of the friends, except Mia vote to continue with the truck heists.
The next morning
Letty - who's off today, visits Mia at the Toretto market and helps her friend until the arrival of employee Isabel.
"Any plans tonight?"
"No, why?"
"It's such a beautiful day. We could go to the beach."
Mia suggests after grabbing her bag.
"Sure, why not."
Once there in Santa Monica, Mia and Letty step onto the pier before taking a seat on a bench from which they can enjoy the great view of the Pacific Ocean.
"Beautiful. I could sit here all day."
Mia raves and receives an approving smile from her best friend.
"Did you notice how Dom's been acting lately? Anything happened between you guys?"
"No, why?"
Letty asks confused.
"Really? Well, he's acting kind of weird when you're around. Like he's avoiding you or something."
"No. Nothing happened."
Letty clarifies with an serious tone.
"How's it going between you and Kyle?"
"Good. He's really cute. I feel like it's gonna happen soon."
"With or without Vince?"
Letty laughs.
"That's not funny. Okay, maybe a little."
"You know he's into you, don't you?"
"Vince? Uh uh."
"Oh come on, look how jealous he is everytime a guy comes close to you."
"You know he acts the same about you."
"But not like that."
"Shit, I think you're right...You know what? One time he asked me if I wanted to go out with him. Alone.."
"And?"
Letty asks amused.
"Said I'm busy...Oh God! What should I do now? I mean, it's Vince! He's like a brother to me."
"Then tell him that."
"I don't want to hurt his feelings. And you know how he is, Vince doesn't give up that easily."
"True."
Letty laughs and the girl get up from the bench.
"You hungry?"
Mia asks as they leave the pier.
"Yeah."
The girls agree on a seafood restaurant and enjoy the good meal before heading to the Toretto house.
"Aren't you coming in?"
"No, grandma's at work. I've to clean up the house and cook. See ya at the race."
"Okay."
When Mia and the boys arrive at the venue in Slauson, the five make their way to Letty, who's sitting on her hood a few meters away.
She isn't alone. Adrian is with her and the two seem so engrossed in their conversation that they didn't notice the arrival of the gang.
Adrian stands right in front of her, he's getting closer and closer to her face and it looks as if he wants to kiss her.
"Hey, lovebirds. Who's running the race?"
Vince calls from a distance.
"Oh...Hi...Uhm, that guy over there, with the lakers shirt."
"Did you race?"
Jesse asks.
"No, just got here."
Dom, who hasn't said anything yet, looks at Letty for an unusually long time.
"What? Something wrong?...Anything on my face-"
Letty ask insecure.
"No, no. You look great."
Mia assures.
And she's right. The latina wears a white, tight shirt and gray denim shorts. She looks sexy, but not cheap - unlike most of the other girls there.
Dom keeps catching himself staring at Letty. To escape the situation, he walks towards the starting line and watches Vince race.
"Wait, you came with the integra? Wanna race next?"
Letty asks when she recognizes Mia's car.
"No, no. I just wanted to show him off a bit."
Laughs the youngest Toretto.
"And what about you?"
Adrian asks Leon, who's flirting around with some girls.
"I'm just here for the ladies tonight."
When Adrian leaves the girls alone for a moment to chat with a buddy, Mia uses the moment to talk to Letty, while they watch Jesse getting ready for his race.
"Is it serious?"
"Hmm?"
"Between you two."
"No."
"Really?
"Why?"
"Well, from what I just watched, it looks like it does."
"He wanted to say goodbye. He's joining the army tomorrow."
"Oh."
Adrian comes back and the three focus on the race again.
Jesse wins as well and celebrates his triumph with the girls.
Last but not least, it's Dom's turn, who competes against a dark blue Ford Escort RS Cosworth. And he wins effortlessly.
When the team decides to leave, Adrian follows Letty to her car. He whispers something into her ear and kisses her on the mouth for a few seconds before she gets into her Nissan and drives away with the others.
"Ayo, Steve's throwing a house party."
Leon informs the team via walki-talki when the six stop at an intersection.
Once there, it doesn't take long until girls cling to Leon and Dom. Letty and Mia decide to dance a little while Jesse tells the other guests on the couch about his victory.
Some hours later, after most of the people have left, the host suggests to play a drinking game.
"Listen, just spin the bottle and kiss whoever it's pointing at."
"Okay, I'm out. I mean, what if mine meets Dom."
"Then just turn again. Come on Mia."
Vince replies with a grin.
"Ugh, alright."
The game is in full swing and the smooching partially very wild. Until Mia's bottle - as luck would have it meets Dom.
"Go on, go on. Oh god! Here take the bottle."
Mia reacts in shock. Dom turns the bottle and it stops in front of Letty.
"Come on guys!" Someone out of the circle shouts after several seconds have passed without both of them moving.
"Let's go! They family too, or what?"
Another one calls.
Letty and Dom smile embarrassed.
Both get up and he walks towards her. Dom looks deep into her eyes. When their lips meet, he can feel a tingling in the stomach, something he has never experienced before.
Dom pulls Letty closer and the kiss becomes more passionate...
"Hot!"
Both hear a voice calling and their lips separate again...
