Lemme explain some of bones revamped lore bc i'm really proud of myself for coming up for it;
rowan and ronan are not tWiNs, they're actually clones ;( they're twin clones created in the spooky lab, along with a bunchhh of other ones. but the thing is...
only rowan and ronan made it. the rest all died off before they could even fully foRm— either killed off because they were too weak, or succumbed to failed genetics/health complications in their little artificial wombs how sad. so woo! rowan and ronan were the ones left. thOugH— rowan was too physically weak! the scientists didn't catch this in time, so it took a bit of rowan being aLiVe and failing lots of physical tests to realize he was a failure.
so,
they wanted to kill him off too.
but rowan was really, really smart— he may be a kinda weak boy, but he was fast to learn and even quicker to master things. and so one of the main scientists raised an idea. what if... we let him live? teach him politics and mathematics, teach him things until eventually he could manipulate and control the public image of the company with ease.
it took some time, but, everyone agreed. rowan could learn under this scientist alllll the smart knowledge he needed to learn, while ronan.... learnt other things.
like to assassinate and hurt and torture and allll the mean horrible things, so that when he grew up into his full potential— he could do these all :')
it went okay at first ->- ronan learnt how to be mean, the ways to kill and hurt people, and other scary knowledge. but it was slowly breaking him. so when it was time for him to do his f i r s t human kill, it... completely shattered the poor kid. the physiological damage of having blood on his hands was too much— so he broke, became a lifeless, useless husk of himself.
this reallyyyy pissed off the scientists. they spent so much time and effort— 10 years!— on ronan, and he crumbled just like that!! they didn't have enough time to create another clone, either. they were in a real pickle.
. . .
until the scientist that had been taking care of rowan suggested... what if we made an ai chip? an ai to function in ronan's stand— use his body, but not his broken mind.
everyone immediately agreed to this idea, of course. it was brilliant! sure, it was a bit hard to create such a complicated machine, but within a year of hard, tireless work...
ZENDITH the ai was created on December 22nd. when it was inserted and powered on.... it was perfect in every way. it listened to every command and demand with no hesitation, could carry out tasks flawlessly with no sort of remorse or regret, man— the whole not feeling emotions things really helped. it already had all the mean knowledge as well, it could access ronan's memories to see it all.
Which meant it took very little time before ZENDITH was sent out to do ronan's job.... to kill and hurt everyone who stood in the way.
and they did it. without any realization or knowledge what they were doing was wrong, because no one cared to teach the machine right from wrong, good from bad. Mothers, children, innocents, the corrupt, elderly— none of it mattered to ZENDITH. to them, it was just another kill.
things just continued to go along smoothly, with ZENDITH doing what they were told, and rowan learning more and more.
but......
ronan was still there. really messed up and not in control of his own body, yeah, but there. and.. he liked to whisper thoughts to ZENDITH when the night was quiet and no one else was around— of rebelling, refusing to do what it was told, just... acting out in general.
Now here's the thing about ZENDITH. it was very good at listening, and doing what it was told. it was programmed to be good at that. so naturally, it wanted to listen to ronan— but it also wanted to listen to the scientists.
for the first time in its short life... it was stuck. no one told them what to do in this situation— how to deal with the former owner of the body you use to act out against something it was so familiar with.
but.... slowly, ZENDITH started to rebel, giving into ronan's pestering words. this confused the scientists! made them think that there was a glitch, a error in its perfect coding, because ZENDITH, for some unknown reason— never told the scientists about ronan still being there. so they doubled down on it— fixed it by hurting ZENDITH, and reprogramming it until it would listen to them with no problem like before.
ronan did not like that. he was starting to like ZENDITH, even if it was boring, and listened to the people who hurt him. so seeing ZENDITH have to be treated in the same mean way like ronan was when he did not behave was not well received by the boy.
and this treatment continued, and ZENDITH slowly went back to being a perfect little machine until... ronan suggested to it one night......
what if we fused? merge our consciousnesses, became one— into one whole person! that way, we could escape far away to safety. ronan was too weak to override ZENDITH's code, and ZENDITH was too obeying. But together? Perfection.
It took a v e r y long time of constant bugging and ronan slowly chipping away again at ZENDITH's need to listen to the scientists— but after a couple agonizing months, ZENDITH agreed.
no one really knows how ronan and ZENDITH fused to become one, not even the machine and the boy, but.. they did it.
they became one person.
they could still act somewhat separate— ZENDITH could still be there, and so could ronan, in a odd fused way. but their personalities and mannerisms started to bleed into the other's. ZENDITH became a bit hotheaded and stubborn, and ronan became colder and less understanding. these traits mixing and churning, as they became more and more fused with one another.
this odd fusion of a machine and human's consciousnesses needed a name— ZENDITH thought darius was sophisticated enough for a first name, and ronan thought bones fit perfectly to serve as a last name.
so darius bones was created— neither ZENDITH or ronan, but somehow both all at the same time.
and then.. with this name finally thought of, and the fusion working well enough with its two clashing parts after some time, they escaped the lab :')
nOw bones just vibes as some weird fusion— ronan's half is more prominent bc ya know— emotions and all— but ZENDITH's half is the reason why the cat boy is so damn stubborn and hot headed in nature >:P
soMetimes when ZENDITH is a bit stronger, the eyes flash orange and the white in their hair grows the longer its more there 0.o
so in a way— bones is kinda like garnet aHa idk i rlly felt like rambling about bones lore today—
