“The past is never where you think you left it.”

― Katherine Anne Porter

Torrin’s P.O.V

I stayed silent on the drive back to the Alphas house; the thought of me becoming a hybrid was too much for my brain to handle. I set my eyes tight on the passenger window of Crispin’s car, watching the trees blur by.  He rested a soothing hand on my thigh sending jitters to run through me, but I still didn’t look at him.

Minutes later the car stopped but I made no attempt to get out of the car. He sighed and unbuckled his seat belt with a click and go out. My heart sank thinking he left me behind, but soon his face appeared in the window and he opened my door. But I didn’t smile.

He reached over to unbuckle me and it made my heart flutter but my face kept blank. Not a second later her picked me up in his arms and carried me to the front door. He rang the doorbell with his foot and the door swung open. I kept my face buried in Crispin’s shirt; I didn’t want to see anyone else.

“What’s wrong? What did Elder Madrid say to her?” Alpha McCoy rushed out in a worried tone. I could tell he was truly worried, but that didn’t make me look up. The sound of wolves howling began to corrupt my mind and I clutched on tighter to Crispin. He kissed my forehead and stepped inside the door.

“She’s processing the thought of becoming a hybrid like me. Elder Madrid said once we completed the mating process she would wake up to…” He let out a painful sigh. “Pain of her transformation” I didn’t hear a respond from Alpha but Crispin began to walk. Whispers of concern filled the room and Crispin settled us on one of the many sofas.

“I have something to announce everyone and that is why I have asked you all to join us on such short notice.” Everyone? Short Notice? I looked up from Crispin’s shoulder and found that we weren’t on a sofa or in the living room, but outside in a patio chair surrounded by everyone in the pack. The whole town.

"Crispin what’s going on?” I whispered sitting up in his lap and straightening out my shirt. “Alpha called an emergency meeting. He wants to talk to the pack about something.” I nodded my head and began to look around.

Everyone from our school was here along with their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, and cousins. It resembled one big family reunion. Alpha McCoy, Beta Bowman, Mace and Jeb were at the higher part of the patio that served as a stage. There was also a beautiful woman with blonde hair the stood beside Alpha McCoy that I figured to be Mace’s mother. The Luna.

Closest to the front of the crowd were Brenda and her two fake plastic Barbie dolls along with their two wanna be boyfriends. I smiled when I noticed that Brenda was still alone. “What are you smiling about?” Crispin teased while resting his head on my shoulder. I nodded my head in the direction of Brenda and he chuckled.

“You’re such a b*tch to her it’s hilariously mean.” He chuckled.

“It’s my specialty.” I said smugly with a smirk planted on my face.

“Everyone please settle down and would Crispin Aldaine and his mate Torrin Gray please come forth.” Everyone one quieted down and whirled their heads in our direction. My eyes widen and my body went ridged.

“Shh, I’m right here.” Crispin whispered comforting in my ear.  I nodded my head slightly and stood up with Crispin’s hand in mine. The crowd parted like the Red Sea leading us to the front. Along the way girls made goo-goo eyes at Crispin and I had to control myself from ripping their eyes out. Of course Brenda was checking him out and licking her lips hungrily and my muscled stiffened. Didn’t she learn her lesson already? Crispin’s body tightened too, but I wasn’t sure why.
