The only thought I have in my head as I blast fire at every man in white is Nikki.
I saw her. She was just with us. I thought I saw her!
As I see my brother leap in the air like a wolf, I run towards a girl with the same wavy brown hair. I turn her around and my heart does not fly when I see her eyes. I push her to the side and make my way through the running crowd. Some have fallen. Others have died from a lost bullet.
Soldiers have started shooting out into the crowd because we are too fast for them.
I can hear my father yell things to us, but we are all in our own thing. I know my father will eventually send in Emms and Blake for help. Or they will escape to help us.
Why are we all reckless? What got into us? What were we thinking?!
I should've known. We all should've stayed back. I hope nobody has died yet.
But I still run through the crowds. The gleaming dots are all on my back showing who I am.
Is it really who I am? Or am I just a part of this game? A part of an arena with no ending.
These thoughts make it worse to my panic and I have to stop at an empty hallway to take a breath. For the first time, I feel helpless. I look around and its like seeing a battlefield. All those people that have nothing to do with this. They're all falling to the ground.
We've all become Gifted to them and they become Fallen when they die.
Tears threaten to spill on my steaming face. And I let them be as loneliness envelops me. The tears fall and they evaporate from the burning steam on my face.
What have we done?
"Hey!"
My every sense awakens at the sound of a soldier. I turn around with wide eyes and run. I run through the hallway and into another room filled with machines. I push things past me so they can trip, but they jump over the obstacles. My lungs start to pant as I run even faster. At one point, I find cans filled with a green liquid. I quickly shoot a fireball at it and jump at a door in hope that it'll open.
My strength is enough for it to open wide and to save me from the explosion I've created. I saved myself from them, but more soldiers hear the explosion and come at me.
Where do they come from? The walls?!
I wouldn't be surprised as I run for my life. My head completely blurs out as my logic fades away with the smoke. A loud alarm doesn't help as the smoke reaches the sensors at the edges of the building.
Great. I've made a bigger mess. Like always!
I stop as I see more soldiers at my way. Think, Dom. Think!
The only thing left is strongly hitting the ground and creating a blazing line of fire towards them. The soldiers start to panic and run from my fire. I have the chance to escape their eyes for a moment and find a corner of a hallway to let those that survived pass by me.
"Dom!"
And just like that, my panting body stops and I'm left cold. All the steam from my body fades away and I run into her arms.
"Nikki! Baby! I-I thought I lost you!" I hold her tighter than ever as my hands run down her hair and I listen to her soft sob. She, too, had been frantically looking for an escape.
"Dom!" She pulls away with big eyes. "We have to get out now! There's more and more soldiers coming from everywhere! We can't win! We're not enough people! We can't win them!"
