"Nikki. Do you want to go home or are you gonna use that outfit for tonight?"

Nikki steps out of the glassed room in the Lab and furrows her eyebrows at me. "Why? What's wrong with my outfit?"

I chuckle as I observe her semi-formal outfit. It's always been like this with her. She tells me that she can handle herself, but there are still times I have to look out for her. I touch her beige blazer and say, "It looks like you're going to a job interview, not an end-of-the-year party."

"You want me to wear a dress?" She gives me her big innocent eyes as she whispers, "What will your buddy, Dom, think if I wear a dress?"

I give her a playful push even though my blood boils at the thought of that hot head after my sister. I need to keep a close eye on her tonight.

"Whatever you want, little sis."

Her eyes go to Emms and she gives me her teasing smile. "What are you gonna wear? Are you two gonna match today like prom dates?"

"I don't know," I say with my eyes on Emms. She laughs about something with Blake and my heart flies with that beautiful smile. "I'm going to take her out to buy something."

"Excuses to escape with her," Nikki says with a smirk. I shake my head with a smile and she laughs. "Alright, big brother. Then I'll be here with the rest and just wait for Mom. Mia doesn't do much on these days, so..."

"Okay," I say as I give her a quick kiss on her forehead. "I'll see you later."

And with that, I walk towards Emms. I give her a wink as I pass by her and she understands me. I wait in the dark hallway and only a minute later, she walks in the hallway. Even in the darkness, she carries her pretty smile and her eyes shine. Just like the first time we kissed...

"What are you doing here; hiding from the world?" Emms wraps her arms around my neck and I give her a gentle kiss.

"Let's go hide together."

This makes her chuckle as she lets go of me. "I know that wild look in your eyes. What do you have in mind?"

I put a strand of hair behind her ear making her bangs fall to the side. She gives me a smile as I say, "I wanna take you out."

"Now?"

Her brown eyes grow wide as she turns towards the door where our friends are still there. Some have started training. Mia is giving poor Kat some bruises, and Blake is having an excited conversation with Dan. Probably technology stuff. Blake is the only person who actually seems interested on his weird conversations.

"I don't know. I think we should ask Christina if she needs any help for tonight."

"My sister is staying and your sisters are here." Emms stays silent and sighs with defeat. She gives me a light roll of eyes and smiles. I laugh at this and take a hold of her soft hands. "C'mon, baby. New year. New me?"

Emms chuckles and I feel her hands gently squeeze mine back. With this, I know she has agreed. "Fine," she says trying to sound annoyed. "But let's go ask Christina first."

"Let's go!" I hold on tighter to her hand and run down the hallway. All the way to the kitchen, our laughter echoes among the walls.

"Hey Doc!" I give Doctor Alex a wide smile; my hand still holds on tight to the only girl who sets my heart on fire. Alex gives me a small smile and nods. He hands Christina a spatula and she barely looks up at me as she cooks. Her glasses fill with fog due to the steam. "I was wondering if I could just hang out with Emms for a while before the party."

"Hang out?" Emms says quietly. We share a chuckle and Alex looks over at Christina.

"I don't know. Christina, do you need any help in here?"
