All I need is a look. A sign that she could be mine...

Impossible. Why would she look at someone so broken? To a liar...

She helps me forget at least. She helps me be the best of me with that playful smile of hers. I don't have to be the usual quiet and mysterious Sam. I can just be...me. The liar.

I take a hold of a few lights and climb up the ladder to get to the ceiling. I could have used the latest model of the board that takes me up the roof without having the fear of falling down. But I prefer the old-fashioned style of living.

I finish the last row with Jordyn and we give each other a nod. Time for the magician to do its work. So I touch the ceiling and I feel how my veins produce ice out of my fingers. I used to hate it, but the feeling is satisfying as I watch the ice envelop the room we will be at for the last ten seconds of this year.

"Impressive," Jordyn says with a smile. I give him a proud nod and he does a chuckle. Suddenly our eyes are on Kat as she walks in with a wide smile. My heart stops at that smile, and her eyes glow as bright as the twinkling lights above us.

"Wow," Kat says. "This is beautiful. Well done, boys." Her smile turns teasing and I chuckle; trying to hide the blush that starts on my face.

"It was mostly Sam if you ask me," Jordyn says as he leads his magnet board safely to the ground. He raises his eyebrows at me and I smile.

I know what he's doing. I've asked him for advice recently when it comes to Kat. I can't talk to my brothers because one of them will eventually use that information to his advantage and the other...let's just say that he may be having the same problem as me.

At least Blake seems to show some sort of interest in Dan, while with Kat it's hard to tell. She tends to have that teasing and playful personality with everyone. Whenever I try to give her compliments or show interest, she takes it like a joke. If only I knew what her heart said.

Kat gives me an impressed expression and chuckles. "I should've known." Then her eyes quickly turn back to Jordyn and says, "The party is gonna start soon so if you need to change, go ahead and do it."

"Got it Miss!" Jordyn says. The moment Kat is out of earshot, I climb down the ladder and Jordyn rolls his eyes at me. "I gave you a chance there to say something nice to her and you didn't take it. You're not much of a romantic, are you?"

We start walking towards my room so he can use my bathroom to change. I sigh and say, "I don't know. I just froze. What could I say?"

"Something like: it's not as beautiful as you or I tried my best so I can see that pretty smile of yours."

"Wow," I say. "How do you come up with these things so easily? Weren't you nervous with Emms? I mean, if you were able to win that woman's heart then you can win anybody's."

Jordyn laughs at my tease and shakes his head. "It becomes easier when it's true. Doesn't mean I wasn't nervous, but I knew it was her." Jordyn enters my bathroom and asks my personal helper to send his clothes to my bathroom. In less than a minute, I hear the swooshing sound as if it were mail.

I start changing into my outfit. It's the same attire I wore for the Presidential party. I can't forget that night. We were so close for our lips to meet, and it's as if my lips are still waiting for hers since that night.

Every time her hand would cup mine, it sent this electricity all over my cold body. Those blue eyes were the only stars I saw in the moonlight. If only she could stay like that forever. Frozen at that genuine smile that makes the world around me blur.

Yet, I think about Jordyn's words this time. "Wait. Are you saying that maybe what I'm feeling isn't true?" I say as I fix my hair at a small mirror by my bed.
