I was scared I went to far, but I didn't mean anything by it, it was supposed to be innocent and sweet. Its a natural thing to do with a friend right? I was worried, and worried some more, a lot more, just over Daryl Dixon.
I tumbled from the trees and onto the road, almost bumping into Rick.
"Sorry." I muttered apologetically, he didn't seem to notice anything. There was a piece of paper in his hand. The group was standing in a circle. Daryl was already among them as I went to stand by Maggie. In the middle of us all a there was quite a lot of bottled water, four jugs and ten bottles.
Daryl snatched the piece of paper from Rick, then raised his head and stared at Rick.
I glanced at Maggie wanting her to tell me what was written. She didn't say anything, just glared at the water. She seemed upset at it for appearing but wanting it desperately.
"It could be poisoned." Carol spoke. Rick nodded in her direction.
"I'll take the chance." Eugene said, while grabbing a bottle and chugging it back. He was not even a quarter ways through before Abraham knocked it out of his mouth. It hit the ground splashing my ankles.
"We'll take it." Rick concluded, seeing as Eugene was fine, "but no body drink any of it."
"Then what's the point?" Glenn testified, I nodded in agreement, we didn't need to carry something we weren't going to use.
Rick let the note flutter to the ground, talking about how we'd spend the night here and see if anything happens, it was almost already night fall.
As it fell I could finally make out the clearly printed words: From a Friend.
When we laid down for the night, I quickly fell into a restless sleep. Only to be waken from a dream about dogs at the bottom of an elevator shaft, splashing in water with flowers and thorns laced around them. It was still dark, and the stars were out, but I couldn't actually tell what time it was. Mentally I reminded myself that I needed to get a watch. I turned around, sitting up. Sasha and Abraham were keeping guard.
I needed sleep, I knew that, if only there was a way to find it without the nightmares. So I crawled towards Daryl, who was laying beside Rick and Maggie.
I don't know why, but I really needed some comfort. His comfort.
Then I stopped in my tracks, looking towards the water hidden in the trees. I crawled towards it, my throat suddenly becoming itchy.
I opened a bottle, took a sip, closed it up and repeated. This way we'd know if one of them was poisoned. I had drank from about eight bottles when Rick stirred in his sleep. I froze, figuring he'd be quite angry if he saw me, especially since he told us not to drink the water less than a day ago.
He settled back down, and I continued my task. When I was through taking a swig from each bottle, I crawled in between Daryl and Maggie, waiting for the sickness of death to set upon me.
But instead of churning stomachs, cold flu's, or my heart stopping. I just fell, into a sleep, happy I did something for the group.
