I've read fanfics that are 80 chapters long, and I always thought who could stick with a subject for that long. But now I realize that I could take this story anywhere and could write for a long time. as long as you guys like it ~kristy.
When I entered the crowded room I didn't know what to expect. Definitely not what it was, just a normal dinner party. It was odd, everyone was sipping on beer and champagne, casually chatting. I scanned the room for any of my fellow survivors, finally laying eyes on Glenn and Noah.
I made my way across the room, but by half way I was stopped by an elderly lady.
"Hello dear, I'm Lisa." she extended a hand.
"Beth." I said, shaking her hand but looking past her, trying to reach Noah and Glenn.
"I work at the day care, Dianna said she wanted you to work with us." She smiled. I returned the gesture pleasantly.
"So I presume you like children then?" She asked, not taking the hint that I wanted to leave.
"Yes. Very much." I replied, simply.
She laughed, "well then you'll love this place, its basically a shelter, you know the little girl who used to live in your house stays there most the day."
"She's alive?" The little baby from the picture, I completely forgot about the others for a minute, happiness spreading throughout my body.
"Why yes, and she's a speaker that one, almost four now, her older brother, Luis is a construction worker here, so he can't watch her all day." My heart sank as I realized the parents had died, leaving the children for good.
"Why don't they live in their house?" I questioned further.
"Luis thought it was unnecessary for him and little Cat to stay in a five bedroom house."
Cat? That's her name?"But he didn't take anything, all the pictures are still there. The clothes."
"He didn't want any memory of his parents after they died." She shook her head, white hair ruffling, lips pursed. "Although I can't explain the clothes." At that she laughed again.
"Are they here?" I asked searching the room.
"oh no dear, he didn't want Cat to be with all these people, she might get sick. He's quite the protective older brother." she chuckled.
"But it's a girls room I sleep in, I'm wearing her clothes." I pointed down at myself.
"Luis's twin sister Myra, died as well." She didn't go into much detail about the death at all. It looked as if a shadow has crossed her face. She smiled once more and dispersed into the crowd. I couldn't see anyone I knew anymore, so I mingled by the table stocked with icy drinks, looking them over.
"I think you're a bit to young to drink." Rick said suddenly appearing beside me.
I rolled my eyes and picked up a beer, I'd never tried this kind, because my dad, but I knew I could handle it. I've handled much stronger. Moonshine.
When the cap came off with a fizz, I felt like I had been doing this all throughout my teenage years. I brought the neck to my lips in sync with Rick as we watched the crowd. It tasted bitter, but I ignored it mostly, just enjoying its chill.
