"Come on Beth." a voice hissed.
What?I dizzily opened my eyes, I remembered Daryl and me running, but not from walkers, something I couldn't see, it was too dark. Then thorns poked my shins and wrapped around me, I fell my face landing in the thick undergrowth.
"Beeeeeth let's go." My name was dragged out, and slowly my mind started to stir.
I was in my room, but it was dark still, but someone was at the door, letting a small sliver of light descend onto the floor.
"Now's a good time Beth." Slowly I lifted myself off the sheets, so angry at whoever the hell woke me up.
"What?" I snap, not even knowing who I'm talking too.
"Its a good time."
"To?" I finally recognized Ricks husky voice amidst the dark.
"Are you dressed?" He asks, I run my hands along my pajama bottoms and tank top, having forgotten what I wore to bed.
"Sorta." My mind buzzed, yearning for more of the sleep I was just having, my body aching with exhaustion.
"Come on, be quiet." is all he says.
I got out of my warm bed, fumbling over to him, bumping into his chest. I didn't apologize though, it was his fault for making me get up this early.
"Rick where are we-" I say rather loudly.
"Shhhh." He cut me off and I could hear his hushed footsteps on the stairs, as I tried to follow.
Even though I trusted Rick a small part in the back of my head was screaming not to go. A nervous feeling settling at the bottom of my stomach.
The street lights were still lit when we stepped out into the frosty air. Thankfully, Rick gave me his jacket, which I fastened around my bare shoulders. He lead me towards the gates where the dark forest lurked just outside. My heart beat quickened, and an internal alarm went off again. I swallowed the lump rising in my throat, stepping out of the gates as he slid it shut behind me.
"Mind telling me what we're doing?" I asked sharply as we headed towards the trees.
I sounded cool and collected but my mind was going haywire.
"I want to see something." he again gives a simple answer, not letting me really know what was happening.
"And you need me for that?" He stopped short, and I bumped into him again. The all to familiar growls and moans of walkers sounded around us.
"Do you have your knife?" He shuttered, I could barely see his features.
"Yes," my breath came in shallow puffs as the stumbled closer around us.
"But I can't see anything" I said softly. Then he bolted.
It was odd, he just took off running, no idea which way.
I began to chase after him, but tripped on a branch. My face heading towards the dirt as I called out for him.
He's trying to kill you.The voice in my head said, as I brushed myself clean.
Then something brushed up against me and I jumped. Moving away so fast. Above me stood a swaying walker, I couldn't see its face, but it was tall. It let out a moan as I whimpered, grabbing for my knife. But it stood there, still. Not moving towards me at all.
I stayed sitting on the dirt floor of the forest for a long amount if time. I wasn't sure how long it had been but the sky was turning pink from the rising sun.
My breathing was still deep, and shallow and my heart racing when another one appeared.
Again paying no attention to me what so ever. I stood, slowly, but the movement stirred nothing in them.
I walked away then, carefully, still trying to avoid as many walkers as I could. Yet each one I encountered stumbled past me, no arms raised or head turned.
I could finally make out the gates when the anger hit.
Suddenly I was fucking enraged with Rick. He had no idea weather or not I would have been camouflaged, of if they would have eaten me alive. He left me there in the dark to die!
Asshole.
My feet came down as stomping by the time I reached the entrance again. The sun was up and I could see on the road Aaron's beige car was sitting beside his house.
Rick stood talking to Daryl, perfectly calm and collected, as I reentered the town.
I pushed the jacket sleeves off and marched up to him, pushing it against his chest firmly.
"You asshole!" I shouted, my voice carrying throughout the town. My hand rose up to his face so fast he didn't have time to react. There was a loud smack, and Daryl jumped back in surprise, Rick collected himself and turned back to me, his cheek red and starting to swell. My hand stung, but it was worth it, I would do it again if I could. He didn't reciprocate, and stood taking the heat, as Daryl watched nervously, not knowing if he should get involved.
"You left me out there, in the dark, surrounded by walkers, to die! You fucking sprinted." I spat, venom leaking into my words.
"Beth there was no way of telling until now I j-"
"No way of telling? Are you kidding me? You couldn't have just asked me! During the day Rick!"
"What you left her-?" Daryl starts looking at Rick in search for the truth. My glare stayed firmly on Rick who started to cower underneath it. Realizing he had done the wrong thing.
"I trusted you Rick." I say, "but that, all that," I bunch up my fists, "that's gone." My voice returns to normal.
I relax my fists and shake my head at him, turning to walk away, I head back towards the house.
