Daryl sat with the back of his head resting on the sink. I wrapped a towel around my body before stepping out, making sure my wrist was pressed down so he wouldn't see it. We walked back to my room in silence, my bare feet padding on the hardware floors.
I entered and expected Daryl to follow but he stopped at the door.
"You want me to leave?" He asks, shuffling, looking at his feet.
I confidently walked towards him, placing my hand in his shoulder.
"Daryl." He looked up to meet my gaze. "I need you to stay." He nodded and shut the door behind him. As I went to the closet to change. When I came out in a large hoodie that reached mid thigh, I found him laying on the bed eyes closed. I shut the lights off and crossed over the room to lay down beside him.
"You asleep?" I asked unsure of the answer.
"Nah." He grumbled opening his eyes. Dark shadows caressed his face, softening his features slightly, coating everything a deep pure blue. I stared at his magnificent beauty, which was usually confiscated by his dark attitude.
"What?" He asks me, pulling me out of my thoughts. I blinked, unsure of where I was for a minute.
"Hm?" I asked.
"You were looking at me all weird."
I giggled a bit, burying my face in my pillow, smiling.
When I turned back to him I could see the outline of his grin. But soon it faded and a serious look replaced it, frown lines deepening.
"What happened at the party Beth." He stated darkly, it was more a demand then a question.
"Nothing, I was being chased by some teenage boy and fell on the pavement." I was jerked forward, accompanied by a small amount of pain.
Daryl's hand was placed lightly on my hip where he had pulled me closer to him. My heart beat sped up and it was a miracle if he didn't already hear it.
"That wasn't pavement I pulled out earlier." He growl whispered in my ear.
I barely heard what he said, my head was buzzing and my skin was hot where his hand still laid on my hip. I blinked trying to remain focus as he ran his thumb further down my leg.
"Your cut pretty far, might need stitches, I don't know how deep,-Beth?"
"Hm?"
"You okay?" I looked at him dazed and completely relaxed, my worries from the past all vanished.
"I'm good." The corners of his lips twitched upward as he tried to remain serious.
"Who was it? The boy chasing you. And why?" He questioned.
"I never got t-to see them, and I-I don't know why." The words fumbled out of my mouth all jittery.
He exhaled loudly, "Beth please." He pleaded, sounding desperate. I didn't want to talk about this, and I didn't want to know what Daryl would do if he found out who it was.
"Pete."
"The doctor?" His brows furrowed, knitting together.
"I saw him beat Jessie, and he saw me. So he threatened me at the party. So I left and he chased after me."
"Son of a bitch." Daryl growled angrily.
"No. Just, can we just leave it alone for now. I'm tired." I sighed, letting all the air from my tight chest out.
"He deserves the same as the other guy." Daryl muttered to himself. Relaxing again. Justin popped into my head and I shivered.
"Your going have to tell Rick." Daryl promptly told me. I only nodded, my eyes glisening with tears.
I quickly tried to push them back, staring at the ceiling.
"First week here and already causing problems." I whispered to my self.
"You ain't the problem. He was. And he'll deserve what he'll get." I heard the words but I stared straight ahead.
"Beth hey, Beth." He grabbed my chin and turned my face towards him, "your not the problem. Its not on you." I smiled, tears welling in my eyes. Of course he knew given my past history of self harm, that I would some how bring this to be my fault.
He let go of my face and laid parallel to me.
Our fingers barely touching. We listened as the rest to the group coming home. I reached for his hand, the room darker now and entwined my fingers with his. My breath slowed down as I calmed my nerves.
Slowly beginning the journey of drifting into sleep.
The bed springs creaked slightly as Daryl propped himself on one elbow to face me. Slowly, and so lightly his lips came down and brushed mine, electricity sparking my skin. I felt the slight scratch of his goatee on my chin, his bottom lip gliding over mine. I could feel the kiss lingering on my lips. Suddenly I was wide awake, my brain wired.
