Back with Melina and Jamie, they were just finishing up in the barn when a blaring noise came in on a tablet Melina had hanging from her shoulders. Taking it, she tapped it a few times until a top view of the house and the valley around came up on the screen. But what also showed were three blinking red dots that meant there were people incoming.
Melina's eyes widened at this, her instincts kicking in. "Jamie, get inside! Now! Go!!" she commanded. Her grandson wasted no time running for the house with Fanny close behind. "Alexei! Get the boys inside!"
Melina hoped Alexei heard her as she went into a shed by the pigpen and pulled out an assault rifle, one of many stashed around the grounds. She checked it, making sure the mag was full before turning the safety off and heading for the house.

However, as she did, she noticed something above her. Looking through the scope of the rifle, she saw that it was a sleek and oddly shaped drone. Without a second thought, she pulled the trigger and watched as her bullet went through the side of the drone, sending it to the ground below. But as she followed the falling drone, something else caught her sight. Up on the mountain, she saw something, or rather, someone moving behind some trees. There was someone here! And there was no doubt in Melina's mind they were here for the kids.
She backed up quickly towards the house, never letting the gun down.
[BANG x2]
With the rifle held tight, trigger ready, Melina swirled around to see Nikki and Yelena running towards the house, guns up and firing in a direction that was to her current left. Which meant that they were surrounded.
"Mama!" Yelena called to her, "There's a drone!"
"Not anymore." Melina retorted, ushering the two toward the house. "Get inside, both of you!"
They complied and ran onto the porch and entered, seeing Alexei with Jamie and Shaun in the living room. Melina gave a hearty "Thank goodness" upon seeing them before slamming the door shut and locking it.
"Who's out there?" Shaun asked worriedly.
"My best guess is the men who were chasing you back in Baltimore." Melina stated.
As they talked, though, Yelena felt off. As if something wasn't right. She quickly shushed them, trying to find something with her ears. Eyes darted around the room, the silence very loud, and the nerves high. She motioned for the others to stay quiet, pressing a finger against her lips.
The silence still enveloped the room, broken only by the sound of their faint breaths. And then she heard it.
A light creaking in the floor from upstairs. All eyes shot up, as did the guns of the women who fired at least three bullets each in different parts of the ceiling. Alexei ducked and covered the heads of the boys as debris from the shooting fell from the ceiling. He moved them to a different part of the living room, even kneeling down beside them.
