After Masaya leaves the room, my earlier concentration all disappears. I cannot concentrate on my magazine at all.
(Maybe I should go to the beach...)
Even as I flip through the pages, looking at the different dresses, all I can conjure up are images of the heir's upset face and his sulking back as he had walked away. I slowly, close the magazine.
Kana "He's been pushing me around ever since day one."
Suddenly, without hearing a sound, I can feel him approaching. I feel a heavy sensation descend on top of my head. In contrast to my frozen body, my heart pounds at a frightening pace.
Kana "Oh...!"
Masaya "You really are a thick woman, aren't you? Why can't you act as I want you to?"
(My note: I am not your puppet. That's why.)
Kana "It's not that simple..."
Masaya has placed his chin on my head and is unforgivingly placing his body's weight on it as he complains.
However, his manner of speaking is not as brisk as it was before, to the point that there is a touch of gentleness.
Kana "Masaya, you're heavy."
Masaya "What do you expect? I am transferring all my irritation onto you"
Kana "Hehe. So it's my fault, then?"
His arms engulf but did not embrace me.
Trapped in a small, makeshift fence, I feel both nervous, yet oddly at peace.
Masaya "There is something I realized...You've been laughing quite a lot."
Kana "Huh?"
Masaya "These past few days... I've seen you laughing quite often."
Kana "Now that you mention it, you're right. My emotional makeup must be quite simple."
Masaya "When you get upset, you do go all out."
Kana "I have a particular someone to thank for that. Until now, nobody has upset me as much as you neither."
Masaya "I know. All things aside, I do feel apologetic."
Kana "Hehe, you? Todo Masaya?"
Masaya "Hey."
Kana "I'm sorry."
Masaya "Looking back, ever since I met you, your angry face, your sad face, those are the only faces you've shown me."
The weight lifts off my head and Masaya's face suddenly appears next to mine.
In one instant, he captures my heart.
Masaya "I'll take responsibility for involving you in all of this."
Kana "What do you mean?"
Masaya "Just as you're doing your best, I'll also do my best to build an environment where you can smile and laugh."
Seeing Masaya attempting to express himself, I give him a deep smile and nod.
Masaya "You should look like that more often."
Kana "Then... I guess we'll need to have more fun together."
Masaya "Do you want to go down to the beach?"
Kana "With you?"
Masaya "I'll go ahead...Join me if you feel up to it. Only if you feel up to it..."
It seems a barrier still remains between us. He continues to hide his true intent.
However, the hand that gently touches my head is filled with kindness.
Kana "I'll prepare and catch up with you"
Masaya "So you're coming then?"
Kana "Yes...Even if you say that I'm a bother..."
(My note: When did he say that? I was never a bother, okay!!! LOL)
Masaya "Fine..."
Incongruent to his words, he flashes me a bright smile.
Masaya exits the room, leaving the terrace door open.
