Perhaps I'll hear the sound of her footsteps ascending the staircase.

Perhaps I'll hear her say "I'm sorry".

Such futile hopes disappear with the sound of the front door closing.

By the time I have realized it, Kana Miura...is no longer a woman playing my wife.

Masaya "Why did she have to go? And believe everything Koki had said..."

I feel irritated, impatient, vexed, stumped. I've never had such feelings towards anyone before, so I have no idea how to deal with them. At times like this, there is only one person I can talk to.

Kisaragi "Hello"

Masaya "It's me."

Kisaragi "You seem rather upset."

Masaya "Shut up."

Kisaragi "What about, Miura?"

Masaya "Yeah, I found her. She was standing in front of my apartment."

Kisaragi "So I guess something happened."

Masaya "Apparently, she had heard our conversation."

Kisaragi "Did she asked to dissolve your marriage?"

Masaya "Your observation never ceases to amaze me."

Kisaragi "And how did you answer her, Masaya?"

Masaya "How could I answer her?"

Kisaragi "You didn't object?"

Masaya "She didn't give me any opportunity to. Besides, afterwards she went to see Koki."

Kisaragi "That's why."

Masaya "She went to Koki for advice. She could've easily come to my office. This is the woman who came barging into my company, just because I didn't go to a meeting about a wedding. You'd expect she'd at least show that much nerve."

Kisaragi "..."

Masaya "Say something."

Kisaragi "In other words, you're jealous."

Masaya "Stop being an idiot."

Kisaragi "You can't be blamed for not being aware of it... After all, it's the first time you've ever been jealous."

Masaya "Don't speak as if you know me."

Kisaragi "Unfortunately, I know you quite well."

Masaya "Then, tell me this. Why am I so agitated? Why does that woman distance herself from me?"

Kisaragi "So you don't know..."

Masaya "If I did, I wouldn't ask you."

Kisaragi "Most likely, that is the case with Miura as well. She does not know how you feel. So in her worry, she decided to separate herself from you."

Masaya "So, it's my fault then."

Kisaragi "I wouldn't place the blame on anyone specifically. However, Masaya... Don't you think, perhaps, you should be clear on your own feelings...and consider what she means to you?"

I had thought about it, yet still didn't understand. The answer should be simple.

Since I cannot inherit the company as a bachelor, that reason had already lost its value.

A fact that I have not already realized yet.

Masaya "Kisaragi, what do you think?"

Kisaragi "Please figure it out on your own. When it comes to work, I'm your ally. However, regarding this, I would like to remain as Miura's ally."

Masaya "Hey, what's that supposed to..."

In response to the deadline, I am more surprised than angry.

Kisaragi hung up the phone before me...

This is the first time that has ever happened.

Masaya "What's going on...?"

I am completely in a fix. I never cared about other people's feelings. It was the things I least cared about in this world. However, right now, more than anything, I want to know where her heart is.
