Hearing the doorbell ring, I imagine the impossible.
That my adorable idiot would come walking up laughing, her hands filled with shopping bags and say, "Are you hungry?"
Masaya "What kind of gathering is this?"
My first day off in weeks.
For the past while, my days off has been spent with her.
Lacking any plans, I remain in my room until three people, with nothing better to do, come to visit me.
Miki "This is the cheer-up-Masa-party."
Masaya "Huh?"
Ryo "So you were dumped, huh?"
Masaya "What are you saying, Ryoichi?!"
Kisaragi "Isn't it a positive thing, that you can experience heartbreak for this first time?"
Masaya "What did you guys come here for?!"
My angry shouts cause everything to stop momentarily.
But the next moment, the three of them who are already sitting comfortably on my couch, look at my face and grin.
Masaya "Huh..."
Kisaragi "I guess appearances matter."
Miki "Even if you get upset at us with your hair down and in pajamas..."
Ryo "It doesn't have that much of an impact."
Masaya "Whatever, all of you go home."
Ryo "Masaya, are you alright?"
Though they had been fooling around a second ago, the mood suddenly grows serious.
I don't know what to do at times like this.
If this was her, she would probably just blurt out the truth.
And she probably would end up crying.
However, I'm not good at getting close to people.
Even if I tried, Kana is the only one I can get close to.
Masaya "I'm fine...I have to be fine."
Miki "Masa..."
Masaya "It's my dream to protect the company. It rests in my hands to make sure the plan succeeds. That's why I had to let go of her hand."
Ryo "I heard from Miki, but is Kana really going out with that guy called Kasuga?"
Masaya "How should I know? By the way, Miki, please stop doing unnecessary things."
Miki "But..."
Kisaragi "I'm sure, Miki just wanted to solve the problem."
Masaya "It made things worse."
Miki "Did something happened?!"
Masaya "Stop letting your eyes sparkle."
Miki "Oh..."
I hadn't realized until now, but there were at least three people who were sincerely worried about me.
If I hadn't met her, I would never had come in touch with these annoying, kind emotions.
Masaya "Kisaragi, coffee."
Kisaragi "Got it."
Kisaragi gets up and heads to the kitchen.
Reaching out his hand, he opens the cupboard.
The next moment, he turns to me.
Kisaragi "Masaya, it seems you are out of coffee beans."
Masaya "That can't be...oh, sorry. She was too short, so I moved it. She always seemed to have difficulty reaching it there."
Ryo "..."
Miki "..."
Kisaragi "..."
Masaya "Why go silent now?"
Miki "Because you're crying, Masa..."
Masaya "Who's crying?"
Miki "Your heart is crying..."
Placing my hand on my stupid, kind sister's head, I ruffle her hair and head to the kitchen.
On my way, my body suddenly sways.
Ryo "Masaya...!"
Kisaragi "Masaya?!"
Miki "...!"
Before I lose consciousness, the last image etched in my heart is her smile.
