I was exhausted. Shavonne and I fell asleep on each other after having to stay near the football field all night with the police for trespassing.
It was about six am, and we were finally able to leave. Pink, Simone, Slater, and Wooderson went in one car to get the Aerosmith tickets we all wanted for a while, and Don, Shavonne, and I went in another car to go home. Don drove, Shavonne sat shotgun, and I sat in the back.
The whole night, Don and Shavonne were touchy. He had a crush on her since freshman year, and it looked like it was finally reciprocated.
"Some night, huh?" I said, straightening my hair out.
"Yea. Let's hope Randall Pink and Wooderson get the tickets," Don said, "Been waiting to go to this concert for a while now, you know?"
"Yea, I know. Same with me," I chuckled.
"Same," Shavonne said.
"Don, drop me off at Benny's, please. I told him I would meet up at his house last night, but then the cops came," I said.
"Man, he was so drunk last night, he probably wouldn't even remember you told him that," Don said, laughing.
"Haha," I said sarcastically, "Shavonne, you going back to your place?"
"Yea. My mom will be pissed that I stayed out all night. Oh well," Shavonne sighed.
My mom didn't quite care when I'd come home. She was too fixated on Michelle and trying to get her to focus on life and stop smoking weed.
We reached Benny's house, and I got out of the car.
"Hey, girl. Call me when you get home, ok?" Shavonne said.
"Of course. Drive safely!" I said, waving goodbye before they took off.
I sighed and turned towards Benny's house, walking up the driveway. Benny and I had been together for a year and a half. Sure, he could be an asshole sometimes, but I loved him. I'd do anything for that kid. Sometimes Shavonne and Jodi would tell me he's turning into O'Bannion, but I always gave them a look and said, "Never."
I knocked on the door, and Benny's mom answered.
"Camryn! Hi! Benny's in his room," she smiled at me. I smiled back and walked upstairs. Benny's mom was always super sweet to me, his dad was a dick more than half the time I saw him.
I walked into Benny's room, and I saw him fast asleep in his bed. His clothes were tossed on the floor next to him since he slept with only his underwear. I shut the door and took off my clothes, so I was only in my black bra and underwear.
I slowly climbed into bed with him and went under the covers. Even though he was about nine inches taller than me, I still managed to wrap my leg around his torso and spoon him, placing small pecks on his shoulder.
"Mmph," he turned his body so he could face me, "Cam?"
"Yea, I'm here, babe," I kissed him on the cheek, "Sorry I'm so late. Lost track of time."
I half-lied, omitting the part with the police.
"It's fine. I was so fucking wasted I don't remember anything that happened after the keg party," Benny said, pulling me in closer by my waist. His hand slowly moved down to my ass, and there was no space between us.
"Please tell me you weren't driving," I said.
"Nah, Melvin drove me home. I think. But I wasn't driving," Benny said, pressing a soft kiss to my jaw and my lips.
I ran my hand through his curls as our tongues intertwined. He tasted like stale alcohol, and I probably tasted like weed, but it was whatever.
"I love you," he mumbled, gently squeezing my breast with one hand while the other was on my hip.
"I love you too," I said back.
Benny pulled away from me and flipped my body so he was spooning me. Realizing how exhausted I was, I closed my eyes and slowly melted into his strong arms, his head leaning into my shoulder. A few minutes later, I woke up to the sound of someone running up the stairs.
"Benny, man! You in there?"
Fred fucking O'Bannion. I despised him. Whenever Benny was around him, he could turn into such an asshole, and he changed from the Benny I knew. The Benny I loved. The two of us stood up, and O'Bannion burst in.
"Man, I- oh, shit! Was I interrupting something?" he said, smirking at me.
Feeling uncomfortable, I held the blanket up to my chest.
"Nah, you're cool, pal. What's going on?"
"Got any drugs on ya? Weed, preferably?"
"Nah, not with me," Benny said.
"Shit. I was hoping to have some right before I beat the shit out of the freshmen I missed yesterday."
"Didn't you break your paddle, though?"
"Got a new one, doll," he replied, making me cringe at the pet name.
"I'm gonna go back to sleep," I said. I set my head back down on the pillow and closed my eyes.
Benny took the hint and told O'Bannion to leave so we could have some alone time. When he left, I rolled my eyes.
"Can't believe you're friends with that prick."
"Cammy, he's not that bad," Benny said.
I scoffed before closing my eyes again. Benny wrapped his arm around my waist and pressed soft kisses to my neck, making me let out a small laugh.
"You're lucky I love you, babe."
