This chapter is a lot more dialouge
TW: Vomit
After some more swimming and dinner, we all reconvened in the hot tub. I had no idea how much Jodi had to drink, but she was belligerent at that point. She could barely stand straight, and she crashed into Benny on her way into the hot tub. I was in between Darla and Pink.
"Shit, I'm so sorry," she giggled.
"How much has she had?" Don said.
"No idea, but when she drinks like this, it's just depressing," I said.
"So, uh, Pink. You and Simone. What happened?" Melvin asked.
"Well," Pink laughed, "She was cheating on me."
I looked at Darla and Shavonne who both looked down uncomfortably.
"Aw, I'm sorry about that, man."
"It's not your fault. It's not like you knew for months and didn't tell me," Pink said as he looked at us four girls. He was passive-aggressive, and I didn't like it. Shavonne, Darla, and Jodi, all looked at me since Pink stared me down,
"Oh my god!" I groaned, smacking my head, "Why are we still on this, I mean, seriously?!"
"Pink, we wanted Simone to tell-
"Well, she didn't! And neither did any of you. If you cared, you would have!"
"That's not fair!" Shavonne said, "We care."
Now, Benny stepped in, "C'mon, Pink. Lay off of them."
"Cammy, how would you feel if Benny here cheated on you and we all knew and didn't tell you?"
I looked at Benny, expecting him to scoff or shake his head, but he laughed, and almost nervously.
"I mean, I wouldn't be happy, but I'd be angrier at him," I said, "Look, Pink, you're acting like you didn't make out with Jodi at the beer keg, and you have no options."
"You and Jodi did WHAT?" Don said.
Jodi barely said anything because she was too drunk to speak intelligibly.
"What the fuck, Cammy?" Pink said.
"Oh, come on, Pink! Like it's really that deep!" Shavonne said.
There was some awkward silence before Benny broke it and looked at me, "Cammy, I hope you know I wouldn't cheat on you."
"No one said you would," Darla said.
"I don't necessarily know why you needed to clarify that," I said, crossing my arms. We'd passed that topic, so why was he bringing it up?
"I just want to know that you trust me, that's all."
I scoffed, "Benny, love and trust are two different things."
"What, are you saying you love me but don't trust me?"
I could tell everyone was getting uncomfortable again, but I didn't care.
"I mean, I see the way you look at other girls. You tell me."
"When do I look at other girls like I want to fuck them, Cammy?" He said, throwing his hands.
"How about the time when we were out with Don and Shavonne and this brunette with a big ass walked by us, and I had to snap my fingers at you to stop staring?!"
"Oh, give me a fucking break!!" He said. Don was about to defend Benny when Shavonne stepped in first.
"I mean, it was like you were in a daze," She said.
"See?!"
"What, you really think she'd disagree with you?"
"I'm her best friend, that doesn't mean I'll blindly agree with everything she says," Shavonne snapped.
"Ok, if you say so."
"See, and you wonder why I don't always trust you," I said.
"Can we change the subject please?" Benny said.
"No, I want to say this one last thing," I said, "You always try to cover everything up with sex and telling me things like "Cammy, I love you, and I'd give up everything for you. I want to go to the same college with you, marry you, I even want you to have my kids!""
Then unexpectedly, Jodi threw up in the hot tub. The girls and I screamed at the top of our lungs, and the boys screamed too. We all got out of the hot tub as Jodi continued to vomit.
"I'm so sorry!" she said as she started sobbing, "I'm so sorry, I've ruined everything. Cammy, I'm sorry!"
"Jodi, it's ok," I said breathing heavily as I tried not to throw up myself, "It's ok."
"No, it's not. I'm so sorry," she said.
I wasn't sure why she was apologizing to me, but now we had to get inside, dry off, and clean up all the mess.
