It's Going To Be Okay

I stayed at Pink's house for the night. We had sex again two more times, once right after dinner and the other after we took a shower.

I woke up at 7 am and realized my mom had no idea where I was. She was probably freaking out because of it.

No matter how bad my anxiety was, hers was way worse. I didn't blame her, though, especially when you have to raise two girls on your own and the father turns out to be a douchebag. Pink was still sleeping, so I quietly grabbed my stuff and left.

After writing a small note on the kitchen counter, I got in the car and drove off, looking back at Pink's house for a second.

Us having sex felt so wrong yet so right. I didn't know how to describe it. Regardless, I had to think the night over when I got home.

I got out of the car and winced because of how much my thighs and back hurt from last night. I'd have to lie down and take some ibuprofen later.

When I walked in through the front door, I saw my mom at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee. She didn't have to say anything for me to understand how exhausted, upset, and confused she was.

"Mom," I said, "I'm sorry I didn't come home last night. A lot of things happened yesterday, and I mean a lot. I'm ok, though. Well, somewhat ok. Uh, also, Benny and I broke up. Yea, it turns out he's a total asshole."

My mom's face softened, and her muscles were more relaxed.

"Ok," she said quietly, "Sit down, and tell me what happened."

So, I sat down and told her everything. Everything minus Benny assaulting me and sleeping with Pink. She didn't need to know either of those things. When I finished, she had tears in her eyes.

"I always thought Jodi was better than that. If I were her mother, I'd be ashamed" She shook her head, "Are you sure you're ok, baby?"

I chuckled to keep from crying, "Well, I sort of have to be. There's nothing else I can do about it. It's done."

My mom got up and hugged me.

"Cammy, it's going to be okay," she said, "I promise."

I hugged her back and went upstairs to my room to go to sleep. I was exhausted, and in massive pain, and I just needed to not be awake for a few more hours.

I woke up two hours later to Michelle sitting on my bed.

"Mom told me what happened."

I looked at her and nodded, "Yea."

I didn't know what else to say, so I stopped at yea. Michelle looked quite upset.

"Cammy, I'm so sorry for yelling at you yesterday about your friends and Benny. I-I didn't mean it, and you know."

She stopped for a second to keep herself composed, "I look up to you, Cammy. You're my best friend in this whole world, and I wouldn't trade you for anyone else. I admire how you try to keep your life together, and how you always keep going after everything. Please, let me make this up to you. I'll do anything."

I hugged her as she continued crying, and a few tears came out from my end too.

"Love you, Chelle."

"Love you too."

"You can do two things for me."

"Anything. Anything at all."

"Go out with me for lunch, and cut down significantly on the weed."

She looked at me for a second but nodded slowly, "I know. I know it's a problem, but I am going to work on it. I promise."
