Kev lived right around the corner from me, and we could've walked, but Don insisted on taking the car.
"I get shotgun, man. You were shotgun the whole ride to get the tickets, Pink, man," Slater said.
"Whatever."
"You can sit in the back with Cammy," Don said, winking at me.
Don was the only one who knew that I always had a little thing for Pink. I made him swear not to tell anyone. It was hard, but he knew how much it meant to me for it to be kept secret, so he kept his mouth shut. I had a great relationship with Benny, and I didn't want to fuck it up.
We got in the car, and Pink sat next to me. The car ride was short and not all that talkative because there isn't much to talk about within a minute. When we walked up the driveway, Kev's dad answered the door and gave us dirty looks. They were supposed to be away for a while, but I forgot Kev's parents decided to stay home after the beer incident.
We went upstairs and into Kevin's room, and both he and Michelle were there. Kevin's shirt was unbuttoned, and Michelle was busy straightening her hair out. Of course.
The room smelled like someone took a dump in the middle of the room, so I pinched my nose and grabbed the Febreze canister on the dresser.
"Dude, why? It smells fine," Slater said.
"No, it doesn't," I shook my head, "Hey, Sea Chelle."
Michelle nodded her head at me. I was the only one who called her Sea Chelle. It was a cute nickname in my opinion.
"So, what brings you guys here?" Kevin said.
Pink explained what happened with the tickets and how they sold out because the car broke down, and the group couldn't make it in time.
Kevin looked disappointed, as expected.
"Fuck, man. You know, I was really looking forward to this concert."
"You weren't the only one, Kev," I said, placing my chin on Michelle's head and slinging my arms around her shoulders.
Kevin opened the top drawer where his weed and rolling paper was.
"So, what now?" Michelle said.
"What do you mean what now?" I said, "We can't go."
"Yea, but isn't there another way?"
"Slater suggested scalpers, but Cam and Pink turned the idea down. Big surprise," Don said.
"Shut up, Don," I said.
Kevin and Michelle shared a joint with Slater while Pink, Don, and I declined. I genuinely could not smoke weed without greening out and having a panic attack. I wish I could, but my anxiety and weed did not mix well. Pink turned his head toward the clock and groaned.
"I should be heading home. I need to shower and change," Pink said.
"You can take my car, man," Don said.
"Thanks, man. You coming or you stayin', Cam?"
I shrugged, "I'll go with you. I'll let these two have fun."
Pink walked down the hall, and before I left the room, Don gave a blowjob motion, and I flipped him off before walking down the hall and out to the car.
Pink was sitting in the driver's seat, his fingers tapping the steering wheel as I sat shotgun.
"You have fun last night?" I said.
"Yea, apart from getting caught by the cops and getting lectured by your boyfriend about football next year," he said.
"Look, he means well. Whether you sign that stupid thing or not, that's your choice, but don't give up on your last year. Please," I said.
"You gonna lecture me now?"
"No. I'm just giving my opinion. I told you it's your choice," I said.
"I know it is! So don't give me an opinion when I don't need it," he said.
I looked at him with a disgusted expression.
"What is with you, and why are you in such a bitchy mood?"
Pink shook his head and pulled over. He clicked his tongue and shook his hair out. I waited patiently for something to happen or for a response.
"I broke up with Simone."
