After that much-needed nap, I went home and took a shower. I changed into a deep purple shirt Benny gave me for my sixteenth birthday and a pair of shorts. As I finished brushing my teeth and rinsing thoroughly, my Mom came up to me and leaned on the door.
"You're home," She said.
"Yes, I am. Is everything ok?"
"Yea, everything's fine. Did you have fun last night?"
I nodded. She looked at me for a second and left. After I washed my face, there was a knock on the door.
"I'll get it!" I yelled, running down the stairs, and there was Jodi and Shavonne.
"Hey, guys. Jodi, your little brother doing alright?" I said.
"Yea. My mom gave him a get-out-of-jail-free card. It's not fair, you know? When I was his age, I could never get away with that."
I chuckled. It's how the whole sibling thing worked. The younger the kids were, the more stuff they could get away with at a young age.
"How's Benny doing?" Shavonne said.
"He's good. Stupid fucking O'Bannion had to barge in on us," I said.
"Ugh," Jodi groaned, "I can't believe we have to spend another year with him because his dumbass flunked."
I scoffed and nodded my head, "So, Shavonne. Have you told Jodi about your new lover boy yet?"
Jodi's eyes widened, "What? Who?"
Shavonne's face turned bright pink, and she nudged me a little, making me laugh.
"We're not even official yet!"
"Yea, but you like him, right?"
"Well, yea," Shavonne mumbled.
Jodi shook her head, "Are one of you going to tell me who you're talking about, or am I just going to have to guess for myself?"
I looked over at Shavonne, and she sighed, "Don."
"Wow, good for you, girl!" Jodi said, pushing her playfully. I chuckled, "Speaking of that, something happened with me last night at the keg party."
"What happened?" I said.
"So-
Jodi was cut off by someone knocking on my door. I walked over and opened the door, only to reveal Don, Pink, Wooderson, Simone, and Slater. Let's say they all looked pretty upset.
"Guys, what are you doing back so soon?"
Pink sighed and pushed his bangs to the side, "So, uh, how do I explain this."
A few moments later
"What do you mean the tickets sold out?!" I said, exasperated. Shavonne looked equally as disappointed.
"The car broke down, and after we called for help, we got a cab. When we got there, the tickets sold out," Pink explained.
"Simone, tell me he's joking!" I said.
Simone sighed and didn't say anything.
I shook my head and scrunched my face up before grabbing a pillow on the couch and punching it a few times.
"Fuck! Fuck!" I said, looking at the floor with my head in my hands, "So, that's it? No more Aerosmith, huh?"
"Look, man, let's not give up right away. There are probably some scalpers around here, man," Slater said.
I scoffed at the mention of scalpers.
"Scalpers? They overprice every fucking thing they sell, man," Pink said. Not to mention it was illegal.
"He has a point," I crossed my arms. I looked over at Pink, who was standing awkwardly next to Jodi. It took me a few seconds to put the pieces together, but I started to figure it out.
I ran a hand through my hair and sighed.
"Well, we all have TVs. We can watch the concert there. It might not be the same thing, but it's better than nothing," Shavonne said.
I turned to Pink, "Did you guys tell Pickford and Michelle yet?"
"Nah," Don said, "Slater and Pink and I were just about to relay the message to 'em. Are they here?"
I shrugged, "Nah, Kev's house. Let's go."
