Shavonne POV
A week after the lake incident, I called Darla, Kaye, Don, and Melvin to come over to my house. Everyone came over, and Mitch and Slater ended up showing up too. We went up to my room and all sat down either near or on my bed.
"Ok, so," I said, "I'm guessing you all know why I brought you guys here."
"Yeah, man," Slater chucked before frowning, "No, I don't, man."
"Is it about Cammy?" Darla said.
I nodded, "And Pink."
"How is she?" Kaye said.
"She said she's better, but I don't believe her."
We were all a tight friend group since day one: Me, Cammy, Pink, Darla, Don, Benny, Jodi, Simone, Melvin, and Kaye. But Pink and Cammy were tight even before we all met each other. They had such a tight bond, and the fact that he ended it over something this stupid was not something I'd let slide. Especially since it messed her up heavily.
"Pink refuses to even say her name or talk about her," Don said, "I've tried to bring up what happened at the lake to him, but he always changes the subject."
"Wait, what happened at the lake, man?" Slater said, "Was I there? I can't remember."
"Nah, you weren't, man," Melvin said.
"Oh, sweet."
"He was pissed when Cammy threw the ball at his head, though."
"Come on, like he didn't deserve that," Darla said.
"I'm not saying he didn't!" Don said, "And I'm not saying he isn't acting like a piece of shit either."
"We need to do something," I said, "We need to come up with a plan."
"A plan?" Mitch said, "What kind of plan?"
"We need to get them in a room together," Shavonne said, "Alone."
"That's never going to happen," Kaye said, "They both hate each other and would never willingly do that."
"Exactly," Shavonne said, "Which is why we have to trick them into believing they won't be."
"Look at you, smart girl," Don said, kissing the top of my head.
"Yo, guys, this is fucked," Slater said, "I think we should do something about like this. Like, like a plan, man! Yea, a plan!"
Darla rolled her eyes, "You gotta keep up, dude."
We all looked at each other and laughed because you gotta admit: That was pretty funny."
