I drove to Darla's house and parked the car when I saw Simone walk outside with tears in her eyes.
"Simone! Hey!" I yelled to catch her attention.
"What are you doing here, Cammy?"
"I wanted to talk to Darla-
"You mean that backstabbing bitch who broke her promise?"
"You saw her last night! She was too drunk to know any better. She didn't mean to," I said.
"Why are you defending her?!" Simone was getting angrier. I could tell by the way she raised her voice.
"Why are you acting like you did nothing wrong? Did you even apologize to Pink?" I said, "Or did you act all innocent and lie to him?"
Simone tried to slap me, but I grabbed her wrist. Fast reflexes were the one good thing I got from my deadbeat dad. Simone put her hand down.
"You're dead to me, and you can consider us no longer friends," Simone said, walking away. I sighed.
"Simone, come on. Don't be like that-
"No! Don't talk to me."
Simone was overdramatic when she got upset. She'd come crawling back and apologize later. I was sure of it. Darla's door was slightly ajar, so I walked inside.
"Darla?"
All I heard was a retching sound coming from the bathroom. I walked to the bathroom and saw Darla hovering over the toilet.
"Bad hangover, huh?"
"Cammy, you have no idea," she said, "So, I take it you heard about what I said last night? I don't remember saying it. I barely remember seeing Pink let alone talking to him."
"Yea," I said, "It's not your fault, though."
"Simone doesn't want shit to do with me."
"Me neither because I called her out," I said as Darla barfed again, "I'll go get you some water."
"Water would be great. Please don't tell my mom, though."
"I won't," I said, "I promise."
"I love youuuuu," she said before throwing up again.
Later
After helping Darla with her hangover, I met up with Shavonne to go shopping. We reached Macy's and walked to the area where the dresses were. Shavonne needed a new dress for her mom's fiftieth birthday party, and her mom wanted her to get a new one. We also caught up on what happened in the past few hours.
"She did the same thing to me too!" Shavonne said, "I told her it was her fault, and she told me to never speak to her again. At this point, the only one of us she's still going to be friends with is Jodi."
Simone and Jodi had been best friends since grammar school. Jodi knew that a small argument wasn't worth ruining the friendship, but she also couldn't say shit because she made out with Pink. Kaye never liked Simone that much, but she was also selective about the people she wanted to be around. I found it funny that she wanted to be around me, Shavonne, and Jodi, but not Darla and Simone. Maybe it was how overdramatic they were.
"I know right?" I said, looking at all the dresses, "Shav, what color are you looking for?"
"Light pink or a grayish-green maybe," she said.
"Ok. Let's look!"
We looked around the dress section, and I found a gray-green one while Shavonne found a carnation pink one. They were both in her size too.
"Can you zip this up for me?" Shavonne said as she tried on the green one first.
"Sure," I said. The zipper was small and stubborn, but I was able to zip it up. The dress was ok, but I wasn't sure it was a winner, "Hmmmm."
"Yea, I was thinking the same thing. Let's try the other one."
Shavonne put the pink one on. I zipped her up, and our expressions changed.
"Wow. Shavonne, you look great in that."
Shavonne smiled, "You think so, Cammy?"
"Yes! You could totally pull that off."
She smiled and looked at herself in the mirror.
"You think I should buy it?"
"Hell yea!" I said.
A/n This chapter was a lot more dialogue than I would've liked but there's going to be more narrative coming soon
