Chapter 41: A Pretty Amount of Harshness

It was Sunday in Hogwarts, one week after the resumption of classes. Some students at Hogwarts didn't notice the time because they had a lot of homework to do after their return. Some of them were very crucial of their time, including Lesley Vance and her friends, so they would be able to pass their homework on time. Lesley was doing her homework in the Gryffindor common room, mostly in the living room because she was sitting on the couch near the fireplace. She wore a dark blue jacket over a white blouse, black leggings, and brown shoes. She placed one book and a parchment paper on her lap while writing something. Her other books were placed on the couch beside her.

What she was doing was an essay about Aconite in the Herbology subject. She had other essays to do in other subjects, which were for Ancient Runes and Divination. She also had an assignment in Transfiguration which was the Revision of Switching Spell that she needed to practice with her wand. Those were the only assignments she didn't finish yet, and she decided to do and finish them all today even though the deadline for some of them is on Wednesday. Granger went closer to her and grabbed all his school supplies to start doing his assignment. He was probably procrastinating when it comes to several assignments. Granger wore a black jacket with red lining on the inside over a gray undershirt and black and gray pants.

"Hey Lesley," Granger called as he sat down on the couch and placed his school supplies on the table. "What assignment did you do today?"

"An essay about Aconite on Herbology," Lesley replied as she wrote the conclusion part of her essay. "What assignment are you going to do right now?"

"Um... I don't know." Granger replied as he scratched his head looking at his books. "I got several assignments to do this day. I didn't make them in the previous days because the deadline was pretty far enough then."

Lesley laughed softly at her best friend because she knew that Granger hated doing homework and studying every subject. She knew that he would start doing something if the deadline for his homeworks in each subject was getting nearer.

"It's better to be as early as possible because it's hard to do several tasks in one day," Lesley advised. "Besides, I already finished some of my homework except those on the couch." 

"Well, you know me when it comes to bloody hell Hogwarts subjects' related stuff," Granger said. "My brain cells become active when I do my assignments a few days before the deadline."

Lesley laughed again with his statement because she knew him well since her first year. She was finished with her Herbology essay so she put down her quill and took the Herbology book so she could insert her parchment paper on the first page. She proceeded to write an essay for the Ancient Runes subject. Once she got her Ancient Runes book and a new parchment paper, her letter from Gusion slipped off from the cover. Lesley forgot that she inserted it there before she proceeded to do her homework. Lesley's face turned gloomy as she remembered Gusion's behavior last week on the day classes resumed. She didn't approach him again in the following days because she was a little bit afraid of his behavior and she was really busy.

Sooner or later, the common room became crowded because some Gryffindor students were noisy and talking about their assignments. Some of them were helping each other just like Fanny Skylark and Freya Valkyrie in the dining room. Others procrastinated together. Because of that, Lesley can't focus on her Ancient Runes essay so she decided to pack her things up. She used to be doing homework in quiet surroundings.

"Hey Granger," Lesley called while Granger started doing his Aconite essay. "I'm just going to the library just to continue my other assignments."

"Um sure, go ahead." Granger paused his writing when he said that. "I am fine here, don't worry."
