Chapter three New Fate

Derek had no idea where the portal took him to and was afraid to open his eyes when he regained consciousness. Slowly opening his eyes he stretched his arms only to fall out of a tree 10 feet up.

Ailiyah traveled a couple of miles before she spotted a forest to the north. She headed towards it hoping to find food and water to sustain her grumbling stomache. It was getting dark when she reached the forest's edge. Ailiyah decided to stay the night there, then explore more at the crack of dawn.

" ahhhhhhhh!" Derek fell towards the ground. He had no way of knowing where he'd fall from this height. He heard a groan of pain when he crashed into what he thought was a person.

Ailiyah was ready to make her camp when she heard a scream above her and was smashed to the ground. She shoved the person off of her and jumped to her feet not wanting to be captured.

" What do you want, and make it quick before I change my mind in sparing your life." Aliyah spoke in a harsh tone with her small knife in her hand. She wanted to show she was not afraid when inside she was screaming in pain, because the impact did more damage then she wanted to admit.

Derek took his time in getting up, his muscles screaming in his ears with every movement he made. Derek looked up to see where he had fallen from before answering.

" I have no intentions in hurting you, but I just might need some directions home, then I'll be on my way. "

Aliyah rushed at him and pinned him to a tree with her knife up against his throat. She wasn't going to allow her guard to be thrown off.

" I said....." Aliyah spoke with a growl dripping into her voice.

" I know what you said and I already told you that I have no intention in harming you." Derek said pushing her off of him.

He was getting agitated. He had no idea where he was, was shoved into a tree, and had fallen from a tree getting bruises everywhere.

Ailiyah and Derek stood face-to-face, their fear starting to grow and fuel their bodies.

" As much as I enjoy watching this squabble I do believe we have more pressing matters at hand."

Derek and Ailiyah stared at the man who spoke to them, surprised at his quiet appearance. He spoke as if they were enjoying some ice cream on a warm summers day.

" Look, I know you two are a little busy with your affections and all, but I'm starving and tired and I would really appreciate not getting eaten tonight." As if to empazie his point his stomache growled.

Derek and Ailiyah looked at each other horrfied, how could this man say that, they . . . . . . had feelings for each other. Yuck.

Quickly stepping away from Derek, Ailiyah approached the man saying she would be glad to help. John pointed in the direction of a stream he saw earlier, and left Derek.

"Are you coming?" John yelled at Derek after taking a couple of steps deeper into the forest.

Derek hustled after them, glad that the fight didn't have a chance to go any further.
