Ailiyah panted slowly slopping her way through another muggy marsh. It was just downright miserable. Not only that but she was completely one hundred percent weaponless. she was tired and bleeding in multiple spots and the shadow traveling had worn her out almost completely. But Airen had always taught her to hold her head high and if anything act cocky even when you were completely alone. But the thought of Airen brought up the memory of Amaro and more painfully Alayna. Alaynas death was still fresh in her mind although Airen and Nathaniel had expected her to move on but she couldn't. Not until Alaynas murderer was dead. Her mind dove back into that day 4 weeks after the assassination. Ailiyah had barely slept. She was a ghost of her former self her knives clenched in whitened hands and her eyes shadowed and red. She had finally tracked him down to an old worn out town and had sat and watched silently for hours each second getting angrier and angrier until finally she lept off the roof landing silently in the shadows her hood and guard up. The man was leaning against a bar laughing and gambling with the rest. She hesitated at the doorway then turned back into the shadows. Before she broke his body and mind she would break his pride.
Ailiyah snapped out of her reverie as she caught the slight whiff of smoke. Her guard came up and she snatched a nice sized branch and edged toward the smell and the sound of voices. Suddenly the voices stopped and silence echoed around her. Suddenly a figure emerged from the bushes. The face so familiar and comforting she wanted to cry. But also a face that held so much pain in store for her. After a long pause ailiyah finally spoke the name echoing throughout the forest. "Alayna?"
