Victoria...

Two years later...

It's just like any other day. I'm sure of it. Nothing is out of place, and everything is better. Not perfect, better.

You might be wondering where I am. Well, right now, I'm in the car, with Charles and Aaron silent, enraged, and I am bleeding. Confused? I would be too.

Let's start over.

My name is Victoria Freeman. I'm not a Sanchez anymore, I'm right where I need to be.

I see Natalie waving over to me, and knowing her, if I dont go, she'll start screaming for me. Like a dog, or even worse a bird. I shuffle my way through room, pushing and pulling my limbs through everyone. I think I slapped more than one ass.

I finally saw the girl of all my time. My best friend, Natalie Perez. And next to her, Celeste Davis. Oh, hell no.

I walk up slowly to Natalie, fuming, but trying my best not to slap this bitch right now. I could see Natalie fuming too, but she was sadder. Celeste must have said something, or threatened her. God, if Celeste threatened Natalie, I swear I will rip her tounge off with-

"Tori?"

I heard her call to me, but I was still stuck in time.

I cannot stress enough how much of a demon Celeate is!

Last year, in eighth grade, there was a rumor that Celeste put a girl in the hospital. It was confirmed when Celeste got suspended for a week. Only, a week. Her parents and uncle helped with defusing the situation. Not that the principal seemed to care all that much.

I'll be honest, if I hadn't actually met Celeste, or Natalie, I would have had a crush on them.

Natalie, I love her. So much. But after two and a half years of being friends, I realized I wanted to keep our relationship. As friends. Only friends. I met Celeste for the first time, and she was really nice. She's nice to the people she doesn't know, but she isn't rude. Never is. But when she saw me and Natalie together, she singled her out. All because she was black.

Natalie has the beautiful skin of autumn, but all Celeste can see is a black danger sign. And it isn't even because of Natalie, it's because of her dad.

"Tori?" Natalie called again, successfully gaining my attention. Celeste was gone.

"What did she want?" I immediately asked. Natalie stumbled back a little.

"Uh, she just wanted to spit some shit about my dad. She got scared of him when he was going for a walk at night again."

"Oh," I said, realizing what was really going on, "is he okay?"

"Yeah, yeah. My mom is just worried, and it doesn't help that I can't help. My dad just wanted some air. He must have looked weird in casual."

I will admit, it's rare that I see Mr. Perez dressed in sweatpants and sweater. All I ever see him in is his "professional professor outfit". He likes to call it that.

"Bur Celeste doesn't have to get all defensive and patriotic over that. He was just walking!"

"But what the fuck does she know?" She raised a brow, "leave it. She'll get tired someday."

"It better be soon."

...

The day ended with a little less homework and a wave goodbye. Natalie smiled and walked off farther to her own neighborhood. I hiked up my street, and even pet some of our neighbor's dogs. I like Boots, a medium sized chiwawa that always likes to be held. She belongs to Clara, an old lady who lives with a really soft couch on her lawn. She let's me hang around Boots, only because she cant take care of her. I tried to convince Charles into letting my keep her, after Clara offered to sell her, but his response got me thinking.
