BOOK 2 - THE MAGIC LOCKET
SNEAK PEEK
CHAPTER 1
Jungkook didn't talk about what happened in the principal's office. It was a couple of weeks later. Even though he got a tiny little lecture from his mother about the matter. She wasn't angry at him, but at the said principal. It was really funny if you asked the three siblings who had been sitting in front of the woman in the living room after getting the call from the school.
It was already June. There were new things to experience. Such as the three ravens and one owl that were always in the street flying around.
Jungkook had talked to Namjoon about the matter. The elf explained why the four "magical" creatures were watching over him. The three Ravens were three of Namjoons friends from the bank who volunteered for the job happily. The owl, to the boy's surprise, was none other than a hippogriff in disguise.
"They will watch over you and prevent dark creatures from coming to the street. Hippogriffs have strong light magic and can see the shadows," The elf explained, "They are disguising in the bodies of predatory birds."
The four creatures were okay. The hippogriff was a nice fellow, Jungkook still wanted to try and pet the owl, but the bird didn't appear to want to come down from his place on the house's roofs. The Ravens who understood how long they'll be staying in their possession moved to an empty, for rent, apartment (more like, in a family empty roof apartment) in the street.
They had met with Jungkook in the bakery's backroom, Namjoon and Seokjin were present as well, so Jungkook wouldn't feel uncomfortable with the strangers. They explained their situation and exclaimed that they are not there to stalk the kid, but to keep him safe.
"Ravens can see things that other creatures can't, we have excellent eyesight which allows us to see the presence of dark sparks, unlike hippogriffs who can see the whole presence of the shadow creature, which Namjoon told us is stalking you." One of the Ravens explained.
"We have an apartment here in the street, if you need us, don't be shy to come by and knock on the door..." "They will be a helpful bunch while teaching you and Taehyung magic," Namjoon cut the raven.
"Come on Namjoon-ssi, it can't be that bad being a teacher, you have your parents," Another raven said. Jungkook looked at Namjoon, making the elf nervous. "I never taught before, and my parents said they'll help but not as much as I hoped they would." "If so, don't worry, I'm sure there will be more help. We will gladly help as well."
"That is exactly what I was hoping for." Jungkook didn't say anything at that. Since then, It was quiet. around his house, that is. Around school or with his friends, he was still a little anxious.
But for most of it, May and April were over with half a blur (since there were tests at the end of the year that will help him get into high school.)
Sunday morning and already a ring from his phone awoke Jungkook from his dreamless sleep.
"Hello," he whispered to the phone. "Oh my, I'm so sorry, Kookie, did I wake you up?" Taehyung sounded too energetic for Jungkook's liking. "Yes." "Do you want me to call you later?" "I'm already awake, so go ahead. Why did you call, hyung?"
"It's summer and..." "Not yet, hyung..." "Wow, such a savage when you just wake up, huh, Kookie?" "Sorry, go ahead."
"To make it short. You, me, the beach, sometime this month." Taehyung had such enthusiasm in his voice that Jungkook almost thought about not saying anything except from 'yes, sure, anything for' but instead. "Is this why you are so energetic in..." The raven-haired checked his alarm clock. "Ten in the morning?"
"I thought about it for some time now, yeah. But you live in Busan, it's only convenient for you to just go to the beach and back home in less than two hours."
"I mean. You do have a point." Jungkook changed his position and laid down so that his face would face the wall. "Don't worry kookie, it's just a thought. For future reference. Since I still have three more tests to do..." "But you were ecstatic to voice your idea. It's cute, hyung," it was the morning, half unconscious, Jungkook talking.
"T-thanks?" Jungkook wanted to chuckle from the older's stuttered reply, but he was too busy turning tomato color himself from embarrassment.
The phone call didn't last long, mostly because Taehyung felt bad for waking Jungkook up on his free day, telling him to go back to sleep. But Jungkook, even after the call ended, didn't get back to sleep. He got out of bed and walked to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.
The morning was uneventful, except for the part when Jungkook got a letter. It looked so important, but it was from Namjoon. The letter was about the first magic lesson, where it will take place and when. It also had a message about coming to the bakery for the afternoon.
