Sunghoon gasped for air as he pulled himself out of the water, bracing his arms on the sides of the bathtub. He shook his head aggressively, water droplets splattering everywhere as his hair whipped left and right. He looked to the mini table beside the top and noticed his phone screen light up with the face of his best friend.
Goddammit, I just wanna be left alone. Is that too much to ask?
He sighed and sat up against the wall of the tub, reaching over and grabbing his phone as he pressed the answer button and put the device up to his ear.
"Why are you calling me?" He asked bluntly. He was in no mood to pretend to be happy today.
"What the fuck do you mean, 'why are you calling me'?!" Jay's loud voice nearly blew out Sunghoon's phone speaker, making the boy grunt and put the phone away from his ear for a moment.
"YAH!! Park Sunghoon, remember what happened the last time you didn't show up to school for more than a day? I was worrying my ass off all day today. I thought I told you yesterday when I came over to actually come to school today!"
Sunghoon rolled his eyes and stretched out his free arm until he felt something snap.
"I didn't feel like it."
He heard Jay draw in a long breath, and he knew that the older boy was trying desperately not to let his temper explode.
"You know what? I'm this close to giving up on you, Sunghoon. You know-"
Those words hurt, but Sunghoon chose to mask that with the anger he was feeling right now. Now was an opportunity for Sunghoon to unleash his inner feelings.
"No! You shut your arrogant ass up, Park Jongseong! You have no fucking clue what I'm going through right now, and you have the audacity to talk to me like you'll be able to understand the way that I feel? You know what? Go ahead, give up on me. It's not like I need you anyway."
"Wait, Sunghoon I-"
Then the call ended, and Sunghoon was back alone again... trapped in the silence of his own mind.
This time it was different, though. Now there was a cloud that hung in the air, gray, dark, and heavy with guilt.
It seeped into Sunghoon's mind and suddenly he felt a wave of pain, not physical, but emotional, wash over him. And he couldn't hold it back anymore. Now that he was truly alone, he couldn't hold back the urge to cry.
He slid back against the wall of the bathtub and brought his knees up to his chest, holding them there with his arms as his shoulders began to shake.
Suddenly, the tears began to flow from his eyes as if they had been held back from a dam until they had no choice but to break open. He began to sob, pain-filled cries echoing off the walls of the bathroom as Sunghoon let go of himself and broke down.
It was then when the ravenette suddenly became tired. Tired of fighting with his family, tired of being a burden to the only people who'd ever shown him true love, and finally...
He was tired of living.

"Jake, I'm scared."
Those were the first words Jake heard from his hyung after Jay came running into his room at the ripe hour of 9:00 PM.
Then the older blonde had begun to talk about a call he'd had with Sunghoon, and how he'd said something stupid to the younger boy, then they had an argument and Sunghoon hung up, and now Jay was worried about him.
