(JAKE'S POV)

Jake sighed as he walked through the doors to his homeroom classroom. He felt oddly alone today because earlier in the morning, Sunghoon had texted him and said that he was feeling sick so he wouldn't be able to come to school today. That left Jake to spend most of his classes alone, except History, which he had with his new friend Nicholas.

As he sat down, he felt like he was being watched, so he turned around and caught the eyes of a girl with short blonde hair. As the two made eye contact, the girl smiled and made her way over to sit beside Jake.

"Hey, bro. I'm Ryujin." She said, immediately radiating an aura of coolness and confidence that impressed and intimidated Jake at the same time.

"You're Jake, right? The cute transfer?"

... cute?

"Um..."

"Oh yeah, that's what Sunghoon says. He's always like, 'oh yeah, that's my friend Jake. He's pretty cute.'"

Jake felt his face heat up immediately and quickly tried to hide his blush behind his sleeves...which of course, didn't work at all.

"Hah, I think he likes you, to be honest." Ryujin said with a smirk as Jake whipped his head around to gawk at her, shocked.

"What?! No way, he's totally straight." He said, matter-of-factly.

Ryujin burts out laughing, using her hand to cover her mouth as she bent over in the seat. She sat back up after a moment or two to point a shaky finger at Jake.

"You...you're funny. That boy is definitely not straight, Jake. He's at least bisexual."

Jake scoffed and folded his arms, desperately trying to hide the fact that he was obviously flustered.

"Can we not talk about this...please? It feels weird to talk about Sunghoon behind his back." Jake said, lowering his eyes so that he was staring at the desk in front of him, fiddling with the hem of his sweater.

"Yeah, yeah... I guess. But hey, did you hear?" Ryujin said as Jake looked up to see her eyes lit up with excitement.

"What..?"

"Sunghoon has a figure skating competition in a week at an ice rink in Seoul!"

"Wait what? Really?!"

Jake found himself eating alone at lunchtime in the library. It wasn't like he didn't have anyone to sit with, he just... didn't feel like it today. Maybe it was because he had to go to every class by himself today, or maybe it was because he was feeling conflicted about the conversation he'd had with Ryujin earlier, but Jake honestly didn't feel like sitting with anyone today. He was too...caught up in his feelings which he didn't understand at the moment.

He sighed as he scrolled through his instagram, pausing with an inaudible gasp as a coincidental video came into his feed.

Jake felt his heart nearly skip a beat as he watched the video. He'd never seen something so graceful before in his life... Sunghoon seemed so different on the ice than when he was with Jake. He seemed like a... professional. Like a snowflake, if you were to put it in poetic terms. Like... like he could capture the hearts of millions.

"Now I really need you to show me your skating skills, Hoonie." The young Australian boy said to himself as he turned off his phone and began the treacherous journey back to the cafeteria to dump his food. And there was no way he would let Sunghoon go perform for the first time as Jake's friend without him actually going to watch. He was going, no matter what.
