Tommy's POV

Shit!

My head began to fill with thoughts like, who is she, how do I help her and can I help her. I decided to push out those thoughts cause I can't help he if I am zoned out on my own head.

Once I got to the small crowd I pushed past people to get to the girl. I could hear people gasping as they saw my face and then pointing there phones at me as I walked. I ignored this because it wasn't important right now. Once I got really close to her I got I better view of her.

She had long brunette hair that was in a bun, light skin, sparkly green eyes and freckles that decorated her cheeks. My mind went straight to how pretty she was but that fact wasn't helping so I tried to ignore it but it was hard. She was also wearing old beat down jean shorts and a white cropped t. Something about her made me think of myself and that made me curious.

I started to walk up beside her and I looked at the part of her back, side and stomach that was exposed from the crop top. She was extremely skinny just like me, I Immediately new it was Ed. That was one thing we had in common but I knew there was more. I looked at her closer to maybe find a bruise or two but I saw nothing. All I saw was red puffy eyes from crying and a sickly small stomach. "That can't be healthy" I thought in concern. Even her arms were clear of bruises, my arms are decorated with too many to count. Then I saw it. She has scars covering her arms top to bottom, some were extremely old some were extremely new. "So that was what it was" I thought.

3rd person POV

After Tommy looked at the girl for a while an idea popped in his head. He turned around to the crowd and started quickly looking. After about a second he found someone.

"Sir, I know this sounds wired but can I have you shoe laces" he asked politely. The man nodded in approval and Tommy quickly took of his shoe laces. After that he got up and began to walk back towards the girl. He walked up Beside her and stood there with his hands on the railing. Slowly tommy tied the 2 string together and carefully tied one end to a belt loop on her shorts and onto one on his shorts. Tommy exalted all the air he was holding in and relaxed a bit.

"Hi" Tommy simply said. Lia got startled by that but looked at Tommy.

"My names tommy, what's your name?" He said in a kind calming voice.

"L-Lia" she stuttered out quietly.

"Nice to meet you Lia" he said cheerfully.

"Why are you talking to me?" Lia questioned in a honest voice.

"Why wouldn't I?" Tommy asked. He knew the answer but he wanted her to keep distracted.

" well I know there it 10-15 people behind me who haven't bothered to say a thing." She said, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"well I have learned that I am not like other people" he replied kindly. She continued to stare at the water silently.

"did you know that you remind me of me?" Tommy said calmly.

"You give off the same feeling that I do, a feeling only people like you can feel. And do the same things that I do." He said warmly gesturing to her arms.

" oh t-these, you don't seem like that kind of person" she said matter of factly.

"Can I tell you something" he asked kindly.

"Be my guest" Lia said kindly. She didn't remember the last time she had a real conversation. Tommy hesitantly rolled up both his sleeves revealing scars coving his arms that were 10 times worse then Lia's. Lia let out a small gasp. She was purely shocked by what she saw.

"Do you need help?" Lia asked honestly
"Probably"
"Should you get help"
"Probably" tommy chuckled which made Lia smile.

"I not proud of this but about 9 months ago I sat on that railing on this bridge in the same position you are in. But what I didn't have was knowledge on how to swim, a person to talk to and a group of people behind me that should really leave!" Tommy said the last part pretty loud in hope of getting people to leave but of course it did not work.

"Most people tell you to think about who you will be leaving if you do it but that's not what I was thinking and I can tell by how you are looking at me that that's not what you are thinking ether. What I tried to convince myself instead is what am I never going to do."

"If you go now you will never get to see those scars fade away, you'll never get to fix your situation and feel proud of yourself, you'll never get to live out the rest of your life, and you'll never get the chance to live the life you deserve" tommy said kindly and softly.

"Well I know your right but that is not what I am thinking. My hole life I have been told that when I die it will make everyone's life easier and I finally believe it" Lia chocked out, she was now on the verge of sobs. Before Tommy could say anything Lia leaned forward and let her body begin to fall.

Time stoped for everyone on that bridge right then and there. But they were all brought back when Lia suddenly stopped falling. She looked up and saw Tommy smiling at her with a small string connecting the 2 by there belt loops. She noticed them teetering off the edge and they weren't going to last long there. Lia reached up to undo the knot but noticed the strings starting to separate but Tommy noticed too

"Someone call 999" was screamed by someone in the crowd.

"Lia take my hand!" Tommy screamed

"Just to take you down with me, no! Even if I make it out it won't benefit anyone! Me dying would do everyone I know a favour!" Lia screamed while sobbing.

"Well that's bull shit!" Tommy exaggerated.

"And how would you know?" She exclaimed

"Because that would not do me a favour! We have only talked a bit but I can tell we can be great friends.  So take my hand and let's turn this around so we can get you the life you deserve!" Tommy said with such heart and soul it seemed like it could brighten any day. Now they both had tears streaming down their faces. Except now Lia had a different mindset she believes what Tommy said and know
He is right. She does deserve another chance and she can't give up now.

"Ok" Lia smiled as she said such a simple word that could change her life. Lia reached up to grab Tommy hand but it was too late!

SNAP!
