chapter three

When the tests were over, Noa and the rest of class 1-A were all gathered in front of a large screen with everyone's names on it.

They were all ranked on the number of points that were earned on each of the tests. Just like she had planned, Shoto was right ahead of her, behind Momo Yaoyorozu. It wasnt a surprise that Bakugo and Tokoyami were right after herself, however it pissed the blonde off that she ended up doing better than him without trying, which felt nice.

He watched her the entire time she was competing, seeing how she did everything she could to make that red-headed freak do better. He saw her analyzing his classmates, even him, which angered him the most. He hated that he wanted to know why she was acting like her brother's shadow, wanted to know why she looked so lifeless. Most of all, he hated that he wanted to know why she had looked so scared when he got close.

Of course, Noa doesn't know any of this. She's busy trying to ignore the incessant muttering from the green-haired boy beside her. His nervous energy was starting to rub off on her, and she cursed her stupid empathetic traits as she cleared her throat.

"Midoriya."

The boy snapped his eyes towards her, embarrassed to be caught in his habit, and surprised that she of all people had spoken to him.

"You don't know me, but my name is-"

"Noa, right? Noa Todoroki? You're the adopted daughter of Endeavor!"

His eyes were shining in recognition, and Noa couldn't help but be shocked that he knew that about her. The internet can be a scary place. She grits her teeth at the mention of the number 2 hero.

"I guess you do know me."

"Can I ask what your quirk is? It seems super interesting and I would honestly love to learn about it! I know it has something to do with snakes, but what can't you do? Do you have venom? Or maybe fangs or thermal vision? Can you talk to your snakes? Or give them orders? Oh wow, this is so interesting! And I- am I rambling again?" he laughs, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly. Noa watched him go on with a quirked eyebrow and an amused expression.

"I-I'm so sorry! I get talking and then I just keep going and going. It's a bit of a problem of mine! I've tried to control it, really, but nothing seems to work! I ramble on and on and sometimes it feels like i can't-"

She put her hands on either one of Izukus shoulders, a tiny upturn to her lips.

"Stop." He breathed, catching his breath from the nonstop chatter. Noa found his behavior slightly amusing, albeit annoying.
