"so i am still, and i am silent, because if i open my mouth, i may never stop screaming."

chapter ten

The class gets a three-day weekend to recover.

When Noa's cleared to go home, and Fuyumi picks her and Shoto up from the hospital, she's quiet but thanks her sister for coming.

Immediately after they arrive home, she holes herself up in her room and stays there all weekend, despite the pleas from Shoto and Fuyumi. Endeavor opens her door once, asks if she's okay physically, and leaves after her short nod.

She reads a little, forces herself to shower and take care of herself, but spends the majority of the time under her blankets staring at the wall. She has a lot of time to think, and sometimes, that wall morphs into pictures in her head. Of Tomura, when they were kids, reaching his hand toward her. Of him talking to her, consoling her. Of him now, his eyes and the hands all over his body. The way he stalked toward her as she lost consciousness.

She can't sleep the night before going back to school, only ends up getting two or three hours by the time she has to wake up. She attempts the blasted red tie as she gets dressed, but immediately rips it off. It's too close to her neck, too confining, and the fabric makes her skin itch. Not something she wanted to be feeling at the moment.

At UA, when she opens the door to her classroom, she's met with applause and congratulations, praises for risking her life. She does her best to not be rude in waving them off as she trudges to her seat and slumps down. The bags under her eyes are comparable to Aizawa's, her hair is all kinds of messy as it falls over her face.

She looks awful, Bakugo thinks, defeated.

No one else talks to her after she shoves her headphones in and lets the music drown her thoughts. She looks up as the door opens a few minutes later, surprised to see the heap of bandages and casts she saw in the hospital wearing his hero costume over it all.

"Morning, class." Aizawa groans.

The class gasps, asking if he's okay, if he should really be teaching right now. The hero waves them off, just as she did, and heads to the front of the room.

"My well-being is not important; what is important, is that your fight isn't over."

The class gasps again, afraid of what that means. Were the villains back? Noa tenses as the teacher narrows his eyes.

"The UA sports festival is about to start."

Shit. Noa had completely forgotten about that. She needs to start training harder, but doesn't know how she can, now that she's still somewhat in recovery from a gunshot. Kirishima yells, excitement getting the better of him.
