chapter 13

Ten million.

It's a jab at heroes really; putting the biggest prize on the winner's head. Noa looks at Midoriya along with the entirety of the student body. He looks on the verge of tears, terrified to death at the same time. Everyone is going to be after him, his points win the game for the group ending up with them. Bakugo and Shoto both glare quietly.

A calvary battle is not Noa's first choice whatsoever. She knew there would be a team activity, and was dreading it, but having to be up close and personal -physical- with other people, makes her want to vomit. Teamwork isn't exactly her strong-suit.

The rider will have all the headbands and they can't make someone fall on purpose, but other than that there isn't many rules, just grab headbands and guard them with your life. They have fifteen minutes to choose teams.

Noa walks over to Shoto, already strategizing on who would benefit their quirks the most, how they would be able to get that headband from Midoriya. Her brother looks at her when she approaches him, a coldness in his eyes that's unusual for him to have around her. She doesnt even know what's 'usual,' she realizes as he opens his mouth.

"We should be on separate teams."

Noa steps back a bit, retracting her arm that had went to gently touch his shoulder.

"Okay." She says slowly. "Can I ask why?"

Darkness flickers through Shoto's features. "I can win this round on my own. It'll be good to show that we work well separately as well as a team. And look at him, his stupid, smug face up there. We're giving him exactly what he wants."

She doesn't look at Endeavor when Shoto gestures toward him. She doesn't need to. All she does is look at the ground and nod.

"Just, be careful, okay? I know you can beat Midoriya, but don't underestimate him."

Shoto gives her a curt nod and walks away, going to find someone to be in his group that isn't her. What the hell is she supposed to do now? She looks at her shoes, then around the stadium, then to the groups of students starting to form. Shit.

Kirishima quickly comes to save the day, throwing an arm around her shoulder and walking with her.

"Let's go find Blasty and force him to take us." He says, and Noa shrugs his arm off, feeling antsy from the physical touch and the conversation she just had with Shoto.

"He won't want me, but we can try."

The boy in question is surrounded by people, which isn't surprising. Everyone wants him on their team, wants a taste of his power and determination. She doesn't blame them if she's being one hundred percent honest.
