Next we had Transfiguration and, for me, Muggle studies. I left the divination classroom with Harry and Ron. I couldn't help worrying about Harry. I had seen his cup. It did look like a grim whatever Hermione Granger might think. I walked the rest of the way to the Transfiguration corridor with the boys then as soon as they opened the door I twisted my time-turner back an hour. Figures moved at lighting speed around me and then slowed. The Transfiguration door closed as someone (I think it was Oliver Wood) entered. I then ran up a floor to the Muggle Studies classroom. The door had a silver plaque reading 'Professor Charity Burbage' I was inexplicably excited to be starting Muggle Studies. Muggle's are so fascinating. Ron's dad, Mr. Weasley is very interested in muggle's too. I would now have something to talk to him about if the occasion was ever to arise.
I pushed the door open and entered. Who was there but Hermione Granger. "Why're you here?" I said, sounding quite rude. "I'm taking this class." She said with a tone like she was trying to say 'are you mentally deficient' "But you're Muggle-Born you know everything about Muggles" I said. "I think it will be interesting to see Muggle's from a wizarding point of view." She said "Just ask some witch or wizard what they think of Muggles." I said "Well you can just shut your face if you're meant to be smart." She snapped as the Professor entered, I didn't notice, Hermione did, though. "Why are you so ridiculously stupid and annoying!?" I said, perhaps raising my voice a teeny tiny bit "Miss Lovegood! I was told you were a model student! Detention! Same goes for you Miss Granger!" The Professor said "But Professor Burbage!-" Hermione started "No! I heard you insult Miss Lovegood as well."
I dropped into a seat at the front next to a Slytherin boy. "That was hilarious" he said, grinning, he had obviously been trying to hold in his laughter. "How so." I asked "Two of every teachers favourite students being told off at once." He snickered "I'm sorry, do I know you?" I asked him "Oh I'm Theodore Nott, but just call me Theo. I like it better." He replied. I took out my book. He fake coughed. I ignored him. He did it again. "Can I help you?" I said "What's your name?" He asked me "Amelia Lovegood. Pleasure to meet you." I said "Lovegood, hmm? Pure-Blood?" He asked. I nodded "Blood Traitor?" He said "Why do you care so much?" I said "I'm merely curious." He answered "You're pure-blood aren't you?" I asked, deciding it was my turn to ask the questions again. He nodded "How could you tell?" He said "The fact that you knew I was Pure-Blood going off my name alone, tells me your parents made you learn the 'sacred twenty four'-" I made air quotations at that "at some point of your life" I said. He laughed. "You know, I always thought you'd be really boring but you're not that bad" he said. I laughed. "Why thank you for observing that."
"Everyone listen up!" The Professor called "Today we'll be studying the Muggle government. They do things very differently to us in the wizarding community. It's extremely fascinating."That's when it hit me, I turned to Theo and whispered "Your family, they don't know you're taking this class do they?" I asked. He shook his head no and I smirked.
When the class was finished I left and made my way to the Transfiguration corridor, once again. I arrived in time to see Harry and Ron enter the room and myself disappear. I went in and sat next to Ron "What took you so long to come in?" He asked "Nothing, what are you talking about?" I said, pretending like I didn't know. "You were right behind u- Know what, never mind" Professor McGonagall entered the room, she immediately started the lesson about animagi. She transformed into a cat. I began clapping. Everyone else was looking at Harry "Really, what has gotten into you all today! That's the first time my transformation hasn't got applause from a class." Everyone's heads turned to Harry again. I raised my hand "Professor, we've just had our first divination lesson. We were reading tea-leaves and-" Professor McGonagall cut me off "Ah of course, which one of you will be dying this year?" She asked "Professor, Harry has the grim. I seen it." I said "I see." She said, grimly "You should know, Potter, that Sybil Trelawney has predicted the death of a student every year since she got here. Not one has died."
Later That Day/Evening Time
I grabbed my broom and made my way out to the pitch. I've been so excited to try out! I really hoped I'd make the team. I walked out into the stadium where a huge group of people stood. Most were Hufflepuff's and I recognised almost all of them by face, not by name. I stood beside Justin Finch-Fletchey and Zacharias Smith, both of whom are in my year. Everyone else was separated in years. I looked at a bunch of first year, no first years ever make the team. Hufflepuff already had two beaters, Maxine O' Flaherty and Anthony Rickett. We have a keeper, Malcolm Preece. And two chasers, Heidi Macavoy and Tasmin Applebee. And of course, Cedric, our seeker. Everyone was trying for chaser, I reckon there was about twenty people there to try out. Only one could make it. Cedric came over. "Okaaaay! Listen up guys! We're going to have to try out going by years. First years go a quick fly around the pitch and touch back down!" He yelled, there was only two. Both of whom I guessed were half or pure bloods so they could already fly.
Cedric done second years next then he called for third years. I hopped onto my broom and kicked off the ground, I gave a quick fly around the pitch before touching back down, the boys landed a few seconds after. Then Cedric did fourth, fifth, sixth and finally seventh year. After that he got us to try to score against the keeper, we had five shots each. Again, Cedric went in age. When it was my turn I flew up, got a quaffle and aimed at the hoops. I sent the keeper the wrong way and put it though the right hoop. I scored all of my penalties. As did Zacharias and a couple of seventh years. Then we had a sudden death round. If you didn't score you were out. I went first, and scored it. Then Zacharias, he scored it. Then all the seventh years, only two out of seven scored. Cedric then got me, Zacharias and the seventh years to fly around the pitch while the beaters threw around the bludgers, both the seventh years were hit. Then Cedric had Zacharias and I try to score against him. It was another sudden death round. I scored, Zacharias didn't! I threw my hand in the air, in celebration "WOOO! WOOHOO!" I yelled.
Me, Cedric and Zacharias made our way to the ground. Zacharias threw his broom on the ground in temper. When I was off my broom Ron was there, he hugged me "You did it, Amelia! You did it!!" He cried "I did! I did! I did!" I yelled and started jumping up and down in excitement. All the seventh years congratulated me. I thanked them all, then Zacharias stormed over. "You only 'won' because Cedric is your friend and he let you." He spat, literally, he spat in my face. Ron made forward but I grabbed his arm. "Just ignore him, he's not bothering me," I lied "Are you-" Ron began to ask "I'm not lying, okay!" I said, and I know I did raise my voice, I decided I'd apologise later.
