Somebody barged into the room quickly and we immediately scooted away from each other. I looked at Benny's bedroom door to see a little girl with long black hair standing there. "Benny have you seen my teddy bear?"
"No I haven't Raquel, I'm sorry." Benny shook his head.
"Mk." She frowned, "Is this your girlfriend?" I laughed a little bit to try and hide the fact I was blushing.
"No." Benny awkwardly answered. I assumed this girl was his little sister.
"Okay." Raquel left the bedroom, closing the door behind her.
"I'm sorry about my little sister." Said Benny.
I smiled, "Don't be, she's adorable."
He laughed, holy shit I never felt so weak. After a couple more awkward moments of silence, somebody knocked on the bedroom door. "Dinners ready hon!"
Benny and I got up from his bed and went to the dining table. I saw his little sister, Raquel sitting down across his mother. Benny sat down next to his mom and I sat across from him. There were only four seats.
"Thanks for dinner Mrs. Rodriguez." I smiled as I grabbed the fork that was next to my plate of spaghetti.
"Please, call me Lucía. Anyway how do you know my son?"
"Oh um, we play baseball together." I answered hoping to not earn judgment from Lucía.
"Yeah, she's real talented." Benny stated taking a bite of the spaghetti.
"I never met a girl who's liked baseball." Claimed Lucía. I smiled awkwardly in response. "What time you supposed to be home sweetheart?"
"Oh, I don't really have a curfew."
"Oh okay, so are you going to the treehouse sleepover with the boys tonight?" She asked.
"Treehouse sleepover?" I looked at Benny, maybe hoping for an explanation.
"Oh yeah, when you were gone we all planned on having a sleepover in Ham's treehouse. You wanna come?"
"Sure." I nodded.
After dinner I asked Lucía to use her phone so I could call my dad and let him know. Instead I decided to call Jordan's phone, he picked up quickly, "Who's this?"
"It's Rowan, I'm not going to come home until tomorrow because I'm spending the night at Charlotte's house." I quickly hung up the phone after speaking. There would be no way in hell I'd be allowed to sleep over in a treehouse full of boys.
I ran back to Benny's room, which is where he was. "Okay, I'm going." I said standing in his door frame.
"Great!" He smiled, "You can come in ya' know."
I closed the door as I entered his bedroom again. "When are we going?" I asked.
"We planned on meeting there at 8:00. So since I live close we should head at 7:30." He explained. I looked over to the clock that was on his dresser, the time was 7:23.
"We should probably get going now then." I stated.

After Benny and I arrived to the treehouse the boys immediately started complaining due to my arrival. "Benny man seriously?" Whined DeNunez.
"We can't even have one night to ourselves." Bertram complained. I sighed holding onto the sleeping bag Benny gave me.
"Shut up guys!" Defended Benny, "If you gave her a chance you'd actually see that's she's really cool! But you guys are too busy complaining about the fact that she's a girl! As if that even matters anymore so just shut up!"
I turned to Benny and whispered, "Benny it's fine, I'll just lea-"
"No!" He cut me off, "You're staying, just ignore these idiots!" Benny seemed to be really mad that the boys were complaining about me. It was so...attractive. I stood there quietly and only nodded in response to him. I looked over to an empty corner and set up the blue Coleman sleeping bag.
All the boys were now silent after Benny went off on them. I sat down quietly on my sleeping bag as Benny set his up right next to mine.
Ham was making s'mores for everyone and he asked smalls, "You want a s'more?"
"Some more of what?" He questioned.
"No, no. A s'more."
"I haven't had anything yet. So how can I have some more of nothing?"
I turned to Benny, "Is he serious?"
He shrugged, "I think so."
"You're killing me smalls!" Spat Ham. Ham had to explain to Smalls what a s'more was. God I felt second hand embarrassment, but this kid was sweet, which made me feel even worse. The boys ended up going back to normal, with their pathetic bickering.
"Ey Phillips!" Ham called out. I snapped my head in his direction. "You want a s'more?"
I gave him a questionable look, "Sure.." I stood up slowly and walked towards Ham. He handed me a pre-made s'more and I examined it, making sure he didn't do anything to it.
"Why are you looking at it like that?" He looked at me weirdly.
"Did you do anything to it?" I asked.
"No! What the hell! It's just a s'more Phillips!"
I nodded and went back over to my sleeping bag, I barely realized that Ham never made any comments about me being a girl. He either didn't care, or was trying to manipulate me so he could stab me in the back. That's crazy though, right?

I couldn't sleep for shit. I always had trouble sleeping since I was a little kid anyway, so it was nothing new to me. I sat up and everybody else was asleep.
I quietly stood up and walked outside the treehouse onto the porch, carefully stepping over everything. I leaned against the railing of the porch. Admiring the few stars that I could see, until somebody came up from behind me, "Couldn't sleep?" They asked. It was Benny.
"No." I answered. He came around and leaned against the railing right next to me. "I have a question." I piped up.
"What's up?" He looked me in the eyes.
I looked away, "How come you've always been nice to me? I mean, way before that stupid game we played against each other. All I was to you, was Phillips' twin sister." I fiddled with my fingers, "And I was also such a bitch to you Benny."
"Well, regardless of the things you did to me in the past. It was because of your brother, right?"
"Yeah, because of him I thought you were a bad person." I nervously laughed, "It's still not an excuse. I literally stole your favorite hat in 5th grade."
"Well I have a new favorite hat." He tried to lighten up the guilt I felt. I use to bully Benny all throughout elementary and junior high school. I was considered one of the "popular" kids just because I hung out with my brother. He was a dick to so many kids, and I went with the flow.
I looked him in the eyes, which he was already doing the same, "I'm sorry."
Benny took a step closer to me, our faces were inches apart. He didn't break eye contact at all, I didn't know what to do. I felt frozen, frozen in fear.
His lips crashed on mine.
